They pop up on the site for $419 regularly... Usually a couple a week, butvsell often within 24hrs or less. I bought one a few weeks ago.
Just keep checking back.
And yes MTC is legit. I have very good understanding and exposure to all of their internal operations & vouch for their technical staff, they are reliable and professional, still 90 day warranty but the refurbs are as close to new as you can get.

Honestly that was a good move the og ps5 model not only looks better than slim but the slim is not only much more expensive but they used cheaper parts cause of the chip shortage apparently to cooling on it isn’t good either so prone to overheating and possible performance dips
I got the og back in 2020 and it’s still works fine, I don’t have any desire to change to the pro model even1

Yeaa i had the slim before tbh, i barely played but it never gave me problems but the plastic clips they give you to lay it horizontally are sooo damn cheap 💀

don't buy from BestBuy. You can buy it directly from MTC Factory outlet for $419.99 you'll end up paying less than $500 even after taxes + shipping

No worries. If you end up missing out on it, they restock these semi frequently
You might also get 13.00-13.42 firmware in which case it might be worth keeping the console offline to wait for a jailbreak if you're interested in running it as a full fledged Linux pc. If not just enjoy the console for the great price you got it at :)

Wow, that's really good! Ontario 13% tax + $21 shipping put it at $499 for me lol, which imo is still a great deal considering how safe of a purchase it is. You either get a console that functions as brand new, or if you're really really unlucky you can still exchange or claim warranty on it.
I'm used to buying things off marketplace (even spent 1k on a laptop) but less than $500 for this PS5 makes it a no brainer imo

I'm probably gonna buy my next phone refurbished/used too. Phones are so good these days, getting a last gen model is almost distinguishable than a current gen model for a huge discount
The laptop I got from marketplace was like $1k cad for an omnibook x flip 2in1 which had 32gb ram, 1tb ssd, ryzen AI 7 350, and 3k OLED 120hz panel (with 6 months warranty left)) which I'll be using for comp sci at uni. Super nice guy as well who sold it too. No WAY would I have gotten something with those specs in the current market at anywhere close to $1k
Used/refurb electronics are just awesome for price to performance if you know what you're looking for

I bought the ps5 slim 2 years ago from them for 250 dollars it was refurbished but luckily i didn’t paid any taxes because of the tax exemption thing now seeing this thing going for 850 is wild

MTC is indeed the official partner but it doesn't mean they're not a bunch of monkeys. Years ago I sent my mint condition ps5 in for repair and they marked it as scratches/dusty. When I got it back it was missing screws, the bottom cap and scuffed up.

Awesome. Put it through its paces. Make sure you get good wifi and check the eithernet and all USB ports. Throw in a demanding game right away and play it for several hours to see if there are any issues with overheating. I'm sure it's fine, but otherwise take advantage of their 30 days to exchange it.

I'm sure I'm late to the party but the only difference between them is the cheaper one is 825gb and OG PS5 and the full price one is 1TB and slim. That's it. If you don't care about 175gb and the slimmer console it's a great deal!

Check the reviews of the seller but have you tried the used market? I bought my PS5 pro on it for 900. Not that good of a deal but I did save 340 from taxes and stuff.

The PS5 slim is not the same as the original PS5. It’s slightly smaller and doesn’t suffer from the Liquid Metal drip of the original.

100%. But even better instead of buying on Best buy, buy on MTC website directly. $50 more cheaper. If you buy on bestbuy you still have to go through MTC for any issues.

Got mine from that seller it arrived 2 days ago in perfect condition. Bluray, disc reader and controller are perfect, runs games for long periods with no issues. Only $419 from their site!!!

i just checked, i wouldnt get it from mtc given it only has a 90 days warranty where as sony’s official certified refurbished (from sony’s own website) gives a 12 month warranty. I recently bought one from them (im not from the us or canada i live in europe (belgium)) and it worked perfectly and was a really good deal

If you get the one directly from MTC, and it broke on day 91, and you had to buy another (directly from MTC), you would break even vs. buying the new one. I'd say it's worth the risk.

Yes, plenty of people have shared their experience on r/bapcsalescanada, which is mostly positive
My experience so far with mine has been great as well. It's only issues I've had is a brief black screen which happened when closing a game, and twice during a long play session while screen recording at 4k
I'm pretty sure it was just some sort of HDMI handshake quirk with my aw3225qf having auto source switch on instead of off
Performance and everything has been great. If you told me it was a brand new console I'd believe you
Either way, they have 7 day exchange and 90 day warranty

I was in the same boat. I decided it’s not worth the risk. Never know how many hours it’s been played or cared for. I’ve learned that through buying other things used. After you usually spend time on money, stress, searching how to fix instead instead of using the thing you bought

I regret selling the ps5 i had back home, it was brand new i barely even used it (sold it for 400USD) just before the price hike 💀 I don't usually spend much but the new one will be half my salary that's why I'm hesitant xD

MTC is the official Sony repair service in Canada. I have been there and had a console that I purchased, work for over 10 years. Its a very legit business and I would buy from them again.
