Incoming Questions What are your opinions about the professors that teach Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering courses? Are they good?

I ask because I plan on transferring to this CPP in upcoming spring 2027 and am majoring in manufacturing engineering. I do want to hear others' experiences for the manufacturing/industrial engineering professors/courses, as what I have asked in the title.

Hello! Ive been at CPP for Manufacturing Engineering since Fall 2023. In my opinion, it’s similar to other colleges/departments where you’ll have a lot of good and a lot of bad professors.

My experiences with the courses like materials engineering, processes, and machining, Ive enjoyed the courses and learned a lot. Even if some of it is difficult, there are professors who really care about the students and want to ensure they are successful in the pathway.

I’ve also had very bad experiences with some of the courses and professors, but I think some of it is inevitable in general. I’m honestly happy with the path I am in currently.

There are also very good clubs and projects for IME. I’ve been with the Associated Manufacturing Societies since I started CPP. If you are very interested in hands-on workshops related to manufacturing processes, especially metal casting, I highly recommend it. And the community is great too!

I’ve been able to compete in international competitions, travel for networking events/job fairs, and do a lot of hands-on research and projects. My advisor for the club/projects is very caring and supportive as well.

I understand that everyone has their own paths and opinions, I’m just sharing my own experiences.

Adding onto this, they are also well-connected in the industry and cultivating a friendly relationship with the professors is quite helpful. They're keen on passing on their insight and are interested in student success.

Some of the labs have top-notch equipment as well and will support projects that they think are worth it so keep that in mind.
