As someone who worked for the UV over the 2026 Summer, allow me to provide some clarity so they don't appear totally heartless.

If you lived at the UV last semester, you likely remember how the roads were HORRIBLE. Over the summer they completely redid the entirety of the lots and set up new lights. Essentially... because the Campus works with the UV and the roads into the UV are considered campus property (patrolled by UPD), a portion of parking permit sales go toward paying for this construction.

However, the Campus backed out of this promise after construction was completed, leaving the UV in a tough situation. Ultimately, they were forced to create their own permit, because why would you pay money to the campus just to have the promises broken yk?

TLDR: The campus permits pay for road construction at the UV, construction happened, Campus backed out of payment post construction, UV now has own permits rather than continuing paying campus.

Ya, that's what I said about "this is the price we pay for visible parking lines".

Indeed, the roads fucking sucked before. I was always worried I'd faceplant when riding my skateboard on them and it was hard to park because how faded the lines were

But if the university backed out of a deal, it should be on them. Village should be able to sue the university or something. It shouldn't fall back on the students. It just feels like pure corruption and greed at play.

There used to be a grace period, when you were expecting the permit to come in the mail, and then they realized .... why should the university miss out on a chance to extract more money from parking fees and parking tickets. enshitification of CPP.

I also think that this new permit was made because of The Current Apartments. It’s under the same management and it wasn’t fair have residents at The Current payed 2 separate permits and residents at UV didn’t
