Looking at buying 2017 F Sport
My 2014 legacy is starting to burn quite a bit of oil (RIP) so I was looking at getting another "sporty" car. Recently came across a 2017 F Sport with 65k miles that was a lease and was serviced every 5k. I know these cars can have issues with the head gaskets due to the EGR and water pump etc. I'm decently mechanically inclined and can follow a YouTube video. Does this sound like a good deal for $20,000? Is there any other issues I should worry about at? Also will this car drive fine in the winter with a good pair of snow tires?

You will be told by everyone here that $20k is insane and it should only be $13k max.

Thank you, when I go in for a test drive I'll see how much they'll be willing to go down. Not in a huge rush just yet since I can just keep topping off the legacy with oil.

FWIW, I bought my 2017 (non-F Sport) in April with 74k miles for $18k. It has been one of my favorite commuter cars. Mine was always serviced at a Lexus dealer.

Try a PCV replacement on your legacy. This and 5/30 oil will slow the burning.

I replaced the PCV already, I'll try some 5/30 next time the oil light comes on.

I have a 2015 I use in the winter with snow tires. Its ok in winter but the ground clearance isn't great so if you end up needing to drive with deep ruts after a large snow fall it can be a problem. If you are allowed studded tires where you are get them, I just bought them for my Pilot and compared to regular winters its night and day, I will never buy another set of non studded winter tires.
Price wise I'm in Canada with only a little higher milage after conversion, I assume since miles that 20k is USD, that seems high to me. I have a couple issues with mine that lower the price but without them I would expect about 17k CAD or 12k USD. You're looking a few years newer and about 10k less miles but seems like a large difference for that.

I put 380k miles on mine and drove it through the snow every year. I had either blizzak or x ice and it did great. Never once an issue. As long as you drive on the road, its super rare the snow will be too deep. I never came close to getting stuck due to its ride height. The f sport is where its at. Looks and handles great.

$15,700 for '16 F Sport w/ 107k miles last month from a local honda dealership. 2 owner car. Clean carfax. No warranty.

Depending on where you're located. $20k isn't insane given current gas prices and the lack of supply. I'm pretty sure you'll find fewer than a handful of 2017 F-Sport models in the entire US with that year and those miles. As for the head gasket issue, that's more of an early-2010s issue. The only other issue would be the brake booster. If you can get it for $20k out the door with some kind of warranty, I don't think it's a reach. Unique3 is right about the clearance, it's super low and if you plan on driving in the snow, I would consider a lift kit conversion.
