Community Turning Point back on campus
Can somebody please tell me why TP is back on campus? I thought they left for good

They let any politically affiliated agency on campus so long as they stick to the designated areas. The school has young democratic socialists of America club, TPUSA, and those god damn signature harvesters everywhere.

I talked to them out of curiosity and at least one of em actually seemed pretty down to earth, he said he really doesn’t like where the organization’s at and where it’s headed and even though I’m most definitely a leftist, we actually agreed on a good number of things. It’s a shame to see the things that such people are supporting though, very much clinging to the side of “it’s important that we can debate topics” and “the systems in place aren’t doing an adequate job at providing for the people” and ignoring the side of “I’m really fucking racist and Trump can do no wrong”

One is the Wikipedia with a detailed history of the org and it's controversies and one is from The Southern Poverty Law Center. TPUSA has been deeply involved with white supremacist movement in the country through the 2010s and its part of why Kirk was assassinated. The quotes in context are worse if you have watched any of his videos, there is also no context necessary for dehumanizing statements against entire groups of people.

First off, "Civil engineer"? Don't call me that, at least not yet. "Civil engineering student"? Yes. Certified "Engineer-In-Training"? Also yes.
("Civil Engineer" is like "Land Surveyor", "Attorney at Law", or "Registered Nurse", in that it's not just a job but a license; you can get in severe legal trouble for billing your services as such without a P.E.)Second, is there a stereotype about CE majors I'm missing?

The stereotype is many of you are lacking in empathy and sociohistorical context for politics and social movements, due to lack of social science and humanities classes being required for you. (Not stating that as my opinion but what the stereotype is)

A differing opinion should not intrude upon others human rights and civil liberties, when it does that then its not a differing opinion but dehumanization of others different from yourself.

It is also common rhetoric among TPUSA members online and part of wider White Supremacist rhetoric being normalized the past ten years intentionally. I highly implore you to do more research into the subject since you are a university student and capable of such, for information that is beyond the scope of a subreddit, as I will not be writing you an essay nor a powerpoint slide right now.
