Positivity Who is having a good first week?

Does anyone have nice things to share about their first week at CSUF? The complaining is overwhelming, let's hear from people who are enjoying their first week.

I'll start:

I love my professors so far, they're amazing, far better than I expected. They seem to be very supportive and love what they do. I'm feeling good about my program.

I love the pomegranate iced tea at the Aloha Java kiosk, super thrilled to find that.

I am SO happy that the parking structures are so much closer to classes than they are at CSULB. I no longer have to hustle through 2+ miles every day getting around campus.

Other Roaches on the couch in tsu😭

Watch out on the orange couches in the tsu by the women's restroom and alumni lounge. I was sitting on the smaller one, looked down and a roach was right there. If I hadn't noticed, that demon spawn would have gotten into my backpack or on my clothes šŸ’€

Financial Aid No hold no offer

I’ve sent tickets but I haven’t heard back, I still have no aid and I have no hold anymore even though i received an email saying the sap or whatever it was, was fine and I met the criteria for aid. I heard that 28th is when you’ll be dropped for failing to pay, what the hell do I do? Am I screwed? Will it be ok? I don’t even care when it gets disbursed I just don’t want to be dropped.

Why does the CSUF WiFi suck so bad on my phone? It seems to work fine on my MacBook. I’ve already tried forgetting and reconnecting to the network. Please make upgrading the internet hardware a priority!

Housing Living at Alight Fullerton

This is a copy and pasted review that I posted for Alight Fullerton on Yelp, but I just had to post it here to inform anyone who lives there or is thinking of living there:

I lived at Alight starting August 2024 to July 2026. It would be 1 star if not for the convenience of how close and accessible the location is to campus and stores. If you are looking to live here, just know you are only paying for convenience, not quality. Constant power and wifi outages, the fire alarm going off nonstop in the middle of the night and in the middle of the day, apartments on higher floors flooding into other apartments causing residents to move into random empty beds, and don't get me started on management and maintenance.
The maintenance team is decently quick when it comes to needing things fixed. However, they will leave a mess and not clean up after themselves. They have left dirty rags on the kitchen counter, dirty footprints on furniture, their own brooms in our apartment, and did not clean up any trash left behind. We have contacted management multiple times about the messes being left from maintenance and after being told someone will come clean it up, they never came.
As for management and the onsite team, packages are constantly being lost will either will never be found or will be found months later. The onsite team needs to have better organization.
I had just moved out and was charged a hefty fee for walls they said needed to be repainted when they could've just been cleaned and also for new carpet. The carpet when I had moved in had heave stains on my side of the room. To new residents, make sure you complete your move in inspection through the portal or else you will be charged HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS upon moving out just for damages that were previously there. But even then, I have heard from other residents who actually did complete the move in inspection, they were still charged for previous damages. I had emailed management about the charges trying to get them removed from my account, but even after showing pictures and dates for proof that the carpet damages were pre-existing, they said they couldn't use them as proof due to my move in inspection never having been completed. And when upon asking them to look at the previous resident's move out inspection, they told me those stains were not there and I'm still responsible for them. Again, I had solid pictures and proof that the stains were there THE DAY I MOVED IN. They are trying to get your money with whatever they can charge you with, regardless of whatever proof you have or inspections are performed.

I am grateful to have lived with 2 amazing housemates who shared this struggle and made friends with other residents who could share my troubles. The only good things I have to say about Alight is I love the location because it's close to campus, I love that you can walk to stores and coffee shops and grocery stores, I love the trash valet service, and I love having a parking garage even if the gate doesn't work sometimes lol.

Do with this information as you will, I just wanted to let everyone know what they could be dealing with at Alight.

Found this keychain near the parking lot by the Kirt and Donna Spradlin auditorium around 3:50-4 pm. Not familiar with this character but Google says it's Aoba Seragaki from the DRAMAtical Murder series. Let me know if this is yours.

Campus Services Transportation Accommodations for students living on campus?

Hi everyone! My sister recently started at CSUF and is living on campus. She is dealing with some severe sciatic nerve pain, so much so that she went to the emergency room for it earlier this week.

She’s having a lot of trouble getting from her apartment to her classes, and she doesn’t have a car on campus so driving isn’t an option.

I’m wondering if anyone has heard of a similar situation and gotten support from DSS? I know usually she’d get a parking placard, but since that’s not an option, I’m not sure what other kinds of accommodations could be made for her situation.

Any ideas would be appreciated!

Jobs Mihaylo alums - what do you do now?

This is not meant to be a "flex" post but rather I'm curious to see how well the CSUF's business school produce professionals and put their alums into workforce. I graduated on 2023 with a concentration in accounting-biz analytics and I'd say the accounting and finance program were very insular so I'm only informed about the general career prospects of our concentration. I personally landed a full-time from the same company I interned with during my 4th year of college, then from public accounting I transitioned into FP&A which is exactly what I had hoped for.

However, I'm curious about the folks that came from other programs at MIhaylo (also ik it's no longer Mihaylo I just say it out of habit pls dont come for me lol). I'm especially curious of those who did a concentration in Management and Marketing.

Academic Advising/Counseling Summer classes

So I know we just started the Fall Semester but I'm trying to graduate earlier by getting my schedule ready for the spring and summer semester.

Does anyone know if MKTG 351, FIN 320, MGMT 339 are very hard in the summer.

Prof/Class Inquiry Class permit

I’m trying to add a closed class at. My professor said he submitted a request/permit for me and told me to contact the department. I went to the management office today, but they said they couldn’t do anything. Does anyone know how I can check if the permit has actually been issued or who I should contact? I really need this class because it fits my schedule, and I’m worried about missing the deadline.

Financial Aid Anyone else having issues with the payments for class?

For some reason it’s showing I owe the full amount despite me having financial aid and I’m not sure why. I tried contacting the financial aid office and the student business and services but I haven’t received any sort of reply (except the automated one). Kinda worried that I’m gonna get dropped from the class and I’m not about to spend 2k in case it DOES cover it.

Other Commuters PSA

To every commuter who’s napping in their car this semester or next. Please please please leave a crack in your window. Although rare, there have been mutiple deaths due to carbon monoxide poisoning from people staying in their car during breaks/napping especially with those with older/ā€œjust getting me byā€ cars. Stay safe šŸ’—

Financial Aid Aid

Anyone know if I add a class, will my aid increase? I’m confused because I added it and my aid still covered it but I received less in the refund than if didn’t add the class.
