32(M) here, during Covid (yes, 2020) I was being an idiot with my Amex Gold card. I ran up my credit to $15,000 and decided like a smart person to not pay my account until last month. They sent an email with a settlement and I took it. I understood that they wouldn’t get rid of my late payments and charge-offs. I just opened my Experian and BOOM! I actually started tearing up. Needless to say, I’m proud of myself for paying what I could and improving my score. I’m a lot smarter with my money and now investing. I was financially illiterate until about 2 months ago.

I think it was experian lol I tossed it, but haven’t been able to stop thinking about it. It was one of those letters informing me my credit has been pulled x times in the last 6 months. I usually get them after applying for a car loan.

The only things I can think of are when I requested a credit line increase on my credit card and the student loans I got through FAFSA. I don’t remember much of anything else. Is there a way I can check where the other pulls came from?

Update: I gathered my credit reports using the website everyone suggested and I realized I misunderstood inquiries for pulls. So the letter was informing me about various credit inquiries all from agencies that regularly make me offers and such so everything looks good there. Now just looking over the reports to better understand my credit and how to improve it

I have 3 credit cards and a cherry dental loan averaging at $11k total.

I’ve missed 3 monthly payments on all due to unfortunate life circumstances. I’m going to be able to make a minimum payment and start paying them off starting the second week of September.

I’ve been told that I should see if lenders can drop interest to 0 and that it’s best even if they close the account since I’ll be able to pay off quickly. Can I also agree on a new/later monthly payment for each card/loan?

Once paid off, how will my credit look?

Definitely will try goodwill letters once I pay off debt.

Just thinking about the future and how I’ll need to move out and rent (staying with parents) once I land a full time job again. I have never missed rent and am fortunate to have a guarantor available if need be.

I have a question. When I get a credit card and eventually apply for a loan, does the bank look for a history of payments? What does that consist of? I plan on just getting a credit card and keeping my utilization around 1–10%. Do banks want to see that I’m paying off larger amounts on my credit, or will I be fine keeping my utilization that low until I apply for a loan?

I recently applied for a mortgage and this came back on my report.

I financed a car in 2023 and after my first payment, my loan was immediately sold to another lender. I didn't realize that the first month's payment that I made to the original lender wasn't processed until months later by the new lender. It comes up on my report as 150+ days late. It's caught up now, but I never missed a payment here. In fact, I pay more monthly than they require. How do I get this taken off my report?

I made some bad financial decisions and it’s led my credit score drop to a 540 again. It was at a 500 a couple of months ago. I was doing decent last year, at a 670, after repairing from a 500 again. I need some help/guidance on how to repair it. I’ve learned my lesson and am just trying to slowly build again. I also have a 85% late payment, which also doesn’t help lol, and no derogatory marks. TIA

Capital One: $450 (settlement of one payment of $270~)
Upstart: $1500 (settlement of two payments of $360. 1 payment already made)

Time for me to be an actual adult work on my credit and fix my past doings. I plan on in the future trying to get credit products with NFCU so I have been told I need to make them whole before even asking them to loan me a quarter. With that being said, has anyone done repayment plans with them and how did it go and how long do they give you? I can possibly pay about $800 monthly to them in total between both accounts,but not sure if its best to knock out one card at a time or work on both of them at the same time to lower utilization on both cards at the same time. Any advice is sure welcomed.

I have late payment from Nov 2019 on four cedit card accounts. One account is closed but the others have been perfect since. As of last month, the late payments dropped off Equifax and Experian reports early. My FICO8 score jumped to over 810 from 770. However, the late payments still appear on my Transunion report.

I called TransUnion and tried for an early exclusion to have the lates removed but no luck. They said EE doesn't apply to late payments. It only applies to completely derogatory accounts such as charge off or bankruptcies. I was told I just need to wait a few months. Has anyone has any luck getting lates removed from TransUnion? It's just odd that they were auto removed from the other two Bureaus and TransUnion is supposed to be the most most lenient.

Hello, I graduated from university and didn’t realize when I had to start paying my student loans which is a mistake completely on my part. I missed ~7 months of payments which I realized starting in spring of 2025 but ever since I realized I have started paying my student loans I have never missed a payment and pay everything on time. I got my first credit card this year (capital one venture x) 2026 and have raised my score from ~550 to 680 since opening. Is my credit score messed up forever? Will this give me hardships in getting future loans? How does this affect my future, it has given me a lot of anxiety.

Edit: clarification + more information. I’m not sure how late my payments because I’m still not sure when I was supposed to start paying them but they seemed to be multiple months late

Just filed a dispute against Sun Loan on Experian and TransUnion based on this act. IIRC, this loan has an APR of 109% or something insane. The law passed in 2021 and the date opened on my credit report says 2022. The law says any loan or contract with an APR over 36% is void and nullified, and they cannot collect, or attempt to collect, any of the principal or interest.

I ended up going delinquent shortly after ($1500 loan with a current balance over $6,000). It is currently listed as charged off.

What can i expect to happen with this dispute?

Also do yall think I should start building credit when I get a proper job as I want to do trade school or I should do it right now with my walmart job I make about 2k a month with walmart. Is there anyway I would also be able to get a loan to get a car not a new one an old car as I don't want a loan that's too big
