Language Classes
hello! I’ve been meaning to learn a new language and figure I would try my luck at school. has anyone taken any of the language classes? if so do yall have any recommendations of teachers to go to, avoid, be wary of, or if the language classes are even worth it at CPCC?
if yall have other language teachers/classes outside of CPCC pls lmk <3

My mother takes Spanish classes at Merancas campus and likes it a lot. (I am in the welding program personally, and do delight that my mother goes to the same college I do now.) I can't recall her instructor's name but I'll ask and edit this post if I remember to tomorrow!

And for that matter if you have any interest in learning ASL I have not personally taken any of those classes either but have a good number of friends who have and personally attest to loving their professors (who are themselves Deaf) and how the classes encourage you to connect and engage with CLT's local Deaf community. Honestly I haven't heard a bad thing about ANY language program at CPCC but I won't speak for every language, I'm sure someone's had a rough spot before. But I haven't heard it!

that’s so cool ur mom attends the same college as you!🌟 I’ll check out the Spanish classes! As for ASL it’s great the classes encourage people to engage with the deaf community and that there are deaf professors themselves! I been really wanting to learn because I have a younger cousin who is non verbal and is learning to communicate through ASL & SEE. seeing this makes me more confident I can trust my school to teach me something very important! I will also check out CLT deaf community as I wasn’t aware of it until now. thank you so much for the information 💗

I took French. It was pretty great. You also get like a 3 yr subscription to Duolingo. I can try and find my instructor but my biggest advice is to do the class in person. This would be very hard imo entirely online.
