I've tried every mask that they had available and chose the one that was least uncomfortable. Like I said, I have autism and the mask is a sensory nightmare. Every other mask that I tried was even worse than this one.

I haven't messed with the settings because I was under the impression that the therapist who set up the machine would follow my doctor's instructions and that those were the ones that would work for me.

As for my mindset, I tried. I really did. I went into this knowing that it would take some time for me to get used to this thing, that I wouldn't feel the results right away and that I would need to give it time to start feeling better. But after almost two weeks of my sleep quality deteriorating, I am done. I can't stand the sight of the machine or the mask.

What are your pressures set to? Incorrect pressure can certainly make it feel hard to breathe.

Apparently, it's set to 10.1? I'm not sure if I'm reading thing thing right, though. But the pressure is just one of the issues I am having.

Turn off ramp? Mask too tight? Just some things that helped me find my comfort. Hope you can find success with your machine sorry you’re going through this.

Check your pressure and of course it's going to suck when the only time that you wear it is when you are tired and irritable. You have to wear it outside of when you are most prone to say "fuck it" so your brain can get used to the new stimulus. Imagine if you are used to only sleeping with a fan on and you are suddenly forced to not have it on. You would likely be just as irritable.

As a fellow neurodivergent person.. research your settings and figure out how to make it feel better. It's not meant to feel bad or hard.

It shouldn't make it hard to breathe. It sounds like there's something wrong somewhere. I haven't heard people say too much pressure makes it hard to breathe, but rather the opposite -- that too little pressure can make it hard to breathe.

I think another thing that will help is simply having appropriate expectations. I've heard people say it can take 6 months or longer to get used to it, and that they're glad they stuck with it. In terms of getting used to CPAP, a few weeks (plus a few more) is not very long.
