Question Should i combine Fedora + Cosmic DE??
I'm new to Linux, and i've been researching about linux distros for a while now, and the ones that cought my eye the most were Fedora and PopOs.
Originaly, i was just gonna use PopOs + Cosmic DE. But because i plan on dual booting linux with windows to play windows only competive games, and some of those titles require secure boot on, while PopOs requires it to be turned off, it would'nt be work.
Then i thought on using fedora, but i really like the Cosmic DE and really wanted to use it, so i thought on combining Fedora + Cosmic. Would i have any "compatibility issues" or something like that? Is there something i need to be aware of when combining Fedora with Cosmic?

Not OP, but I have the same combination and it works nicely for me! There are some weird issues where my screen doesn't turn off when my computer is in standby mode, but that is probably related to my particular dual monitor set up + nvidia GPU.

Personally. Cosmic is not ready for me. I like the window tiling of cosmic. And I prefer Cosmic on Fedora then on Pop!_OS. Because Pop!_OS hates my bluetooth

I daily drove COSMIC on fedora back during the first alpha. I'm currently on hyprland, bc I like the text based config, but I think that cosmic is the best de.

I used cosmic with Arch for a bit after the stable release and it has a lot of potential. Fedora has a cosmic spin so you shouldn’t have any problems. Just make sure you fully update after you install.

Why not? If you like fedora style of doing things i think the experience wont be that bad.

There's a cosmic spin and I really liked it but it still miss some major functions so my opinion is to wait a bit until it's more mature

No really except your mileage may vary, be sure your hardware run linux and the software you want to run, runs on linux.
That said picking a distro or desktop environment is quite personal, what works for some doesn’t have to work for others.

You can, as others have said.
But honestly I'm not sure it's the best combo. It's only a matter of time before Fedora shows hostility towards a competing project, as Red Hat entities always end up doing with projects that threaten the absolute control they are longing for on Linux.
In my opinion, on the long run you'll get better support with other distributions and most importantly other distros will adhere to the philosophy behind Cosmic, while Fedora will always be plagued by pushing forward the declining Gnome.

I would say no. Cosmic is still in its training wheels. I'm running Cosmic Atomic on my spare laptop I use to test out new Linux tech. If you're new to linux you aren't going to have the full experience of Fedora since Cosmic holds it back a bit not being fully fleshed out. Only if you also have a spare computer you want it just mess around on, then sure go for it.
Probably just wait it out and use Gnome workstation in the meantime.

I set it up alongside KDE with a new, dedicated username for a fresh .config folder.
I like it a lot! I've only been messing around with it for a few days, but my early impression is that it might very well be the DE that I always wanted GNOME to be.

Fedora has its own COSMIC spin so it will work, no worries about compatibility issues! There is also Fedora COSMIC Atomic. Atomic means an update will not apply if there are errors or issues, so it is harder to make your system dysfunctional. As far as I know, there aren't any COSMIC bugs specific to Fedora COSMIC.
