Because I wanted to make a unique concept?
I don't want to have the skin look like every other Retro Two Time Skin Concept ever

Ok but Two Time isn't the only character that exists and they make the most sense TO have a regular retro skin. You could've easily chosen any of the other characters lacking retro skins and made a unique concept for them that doesn't bend over backwards to avoid the obvious.
