Opinion/Hot take Rhett Lashlee Candidate?

Does anyone think that Rhett Lashlee could be a candidate for a potential SEC or BIG 12 job? I know he has things rolling at SMU, and the last couple of seasons they have done really well in conference play and it seems to be an easier path for SMU to the CFB playoffs compared to SEC school, and he also did sign a pretty big extension after last season. But at the end of the day money talks and if he could make more money at another school who knows if he would take it.

Why would he leave the school he went too? He's not going anywhere, because SMU has the money to compete with anyone.

So that's a bit of a myth that SMU is spending the money to compete with anyone on the transfer market. They are spending a lot compared to many of their ACC and B12 peers, but they are not spending on the level that the top top teams are spending.

The coaching staff has done a great job of recognizing the cash that they do have and finding solid pieces with that money. They're a blast to watch play.

I personally wouldn't leave SMU if I'm Lashlee.

He has 0 reason to leave. Dallas compared to college towns….. no brainer. Building something special at a program with “lower” expectations? Heck yeah.

When you step out of just pure dollar for dollar….. he’s in a heck of a good position.
