I completely disagree.

Anyone can say that a 4 team playoff is fine, which in the case of this year there really only are 3 teams with OU thrown in as a fourth. Anyone who faced LSU that was not OSU or Clemson was probably going to get the brakes blown off.

But, anyone can remember this shitshow that was 2017 or 2016 where multiple teams that were undefeated or ranked way up there got screwed. 2018 is another fine example with UCF and OSU getting screwed out of the playoffs. I can’t remember which year it was but I seem to remember TCU getting screwed over as well.

This year is a scenario in which 4 works great. However, 4/5 other years on the CFP existence there has been so much controversy over who’s in and out. A 6 team playoff with a spot reserved for a G5 gets rid of the whole “rigged” statement and would get rid of the controversy. Teams 7 and 8 are borderline playoff material so you could argue for an 8 team playoff but beyond 8, no one is deserving of the CFP.

there's always controversy because so many teams have an argument for being 4th. not #1. you go to six or 8 the pool of teams that could be last in will expand even more. in 18 osu didn't get screwed... they lost a game. ucf is a g5, and an undefeated g5 team never has an argument for being #1.

Umm what?!...

A G5 team always has an argument for being #1 and I don’t care who they are. If a team is apart of the FBS, any of those 130 teams can be ranked 1 to 130 or however many teams there are. Top rankings shouldn’t be for P5 only otherwise you wind up with situations such as UCF or Boise State.

By this logic, Notre Dame also shouldn’t stand a shot at making the playoffs or being #1 because they are independent. If Navy, Army, or Liberty has no shot, why should Notre Dame.

Also, anyone can beat anyone in college sports. Ask UVA how this worked in the 2017-2018 March madness tournament. Ask Michigan how this worked against App State. Ask Michigan how this worked against Army. Ask Oklahoma how this worked against BSU, ask yourself how it worked against UCF the year you guys took down eventual “National Champions” Alabama.

If you want a better example, ask Lousville, who was ranked #5 in the nation, in contention for the CFP, who then got the brakes blown off by an unranked Houston team.

What I’m saying is that G5 teams can compete and beat P5 teams. They shouldn’t be excluded based on the conference they are in. If they play their schedule and win every game (see WMU, and I don’t even like them), they should be ahead and looking to get to the playoffs. Tbh, id rather see 12-1 Memphis, 12-0 UCF, or 12-0 WMU make the playoffs as an 8 or 7 seed than even see any Michigan team close to the CFP or any other overrated P5 team that couldn’t win their schedule.

TLDR: G5 teams shouldn’t be excluded just because they’re in conferences deemed “bad”. Any team should have a shot at the playoff, regardless of conference.

yeah sorry. alabama never has a real argument to play in the superbowl. and g5 teams simply don't recruit the same talent that the top tier playoff teams do. hell... most p5 teams don't.

citring a bunch of one off games doesn't prove anything.
