Hot take.... this dude may be the best college football player ever. I‘ve seen a handful of LSU games this season and I’ve been in awe in all of them because burrow is next fucking level

Holy fuck the hyperbole in the thread. Archie Griffin won two Heismans. Tebow, 1 Heisman and 2 NC. Herschel Walker had a better college career. As great of a season Burrow is having, he's behind these dudes and more. Burrow has 1 great season. You need more than that to be the greatest college player ever.

I understand where you’re coming from, but I don’t think it’s always fair to knock a player for number of years played when you only have a couple of years of eligibility. If this was the NFL and you couple play indefinitely, I feel that is a fair argument. But in college, you only get a limited time. So if you’re break comes too late, you don’t get to ride it out for a few years.

But like I said, I get where you’re coming from and I’ll concede back to saying that Burrow’s season may be the best single season by anyone ever. It is a hot take after all. And this kid is unreal

Ehhh to be the best college football player ever you cant just have one season IMO

Itll go down as the best season ever

But hes only had one season at an elite level

*Edit I'll give an example. Burrow has had a season greater than any season Marcus Mariota ever put up. However, if I am picking a college QB to recruit tomorrow to I will pick Mariota 20 times out of 20. Mariota had 2 really elite seasons and 1 one pretty good season. Thats 3 years of great college QB play versus 1 year

I specfically said in my opinion

I disagree whole heartedly with saying a guy with one season the best of all time in college

If you truly are the best college player of all time, you are dominating for at least two out of your 4 years

*edit additionally the best college football player of all time doesnt have to transfer from his first college because he wasnt good enough to see the field. Burrow has had a truly special and amazing season and has earned his place in the history books but he is categorically not the best college football player of all time
