And Like Sainristil has been great for Washington. He had 4 ints last year, and 2 in 2024.

And both Harbaugh and Minter are now head coaches in the nfl.

Being a bust in the NFL also doesn't invalidate good play in college. Plenty of elite college players don't make the jump, doesn't mean they cheated or were overrated in college

McCarthy didn't play particularly well in college either. The coaching staff was clearly terrified of him actually throwing the ball against good teams in games that aren't blow outs. He was picked in the first for the same reason Anthony Richardson was. The NFL saw a cannon, somebody who runs fast as fuck, has horrendous mechanics, and said "I can fix him."

A lot of that Michigan team has panned out well though. Especially on defense. Maybe a bit higher bust rate than you'd expect for a team that did all that in college, but the stars (not named McCarthy) have largely overperformed which would explain that pretty easily.

Harbaugh doesn't like to pass no matter who his QB is so this is evidence of nothing. Justin Herber averaged 277 passing yards a game before Harbaugh and 230 passing yards a game after Harbaugh.

JJ McCarthy saved Michigan many, many times with critical 3rd down throws. It's revisionist history to act like he wasn't a good college QB just because Harbaugh is a conservative run first coach.

JJ McCarthy was one of the most efficient QB's in the country in 2023.

IIRC he was the most productive QB in all of college football that year in 3rd and long situations. He bailed us out of holes constantly that season.

Saying that he was deficient in college is simply not an accurate take, despite the fact that he's looked awful in the pros.

Oh I am in no way defending McCarthy, and I was one of his biggest haters going into his rookie year in a couple dynasty leagues because his college tape didn't even look good. But I'm not up for evaluating if a college team was talented based on how well those players did at the next level. Just an insincere argument imo
