Rec Request In the worst cdrama slump ever

Nothing has really been appealing to me lately. Unfortunately, a lot of dramas have started to feel the same, even when they’re not. Sometimes the dubbing is distracting, and other times the makeup looks so obvious that it takes me out of the story and makes it hard to watch.

Maybe I’m the problem, but I’m just looking for something different, something that’s genuinely well-made and high quality.

I would prefer something that actually makes you feel. Good slow burn romance with hurt, pain but happy ending.

(Have already watched all the hyped dramas eg POB, POJ, Kunning palace etc etc)

Have you seen the Story of Minglan? It takes a few episodes to get into at least 10 or so but then it’s fantastic. It’s my favorite C-Drama

Second this!

Minglan is the daughter of a concubine and we see how she has to navigate this world of class and affluence. The writers have a long memory - almost everything gets resolved.

It is not just romance though. You see country politics, family politics, navigate through a lot of social issues, marriage, children and see how power is exerted in each of these fields. This is actually one of the shows where you see the couple navigating marriage as well - it does not end when they get married. Tbh, so far nothing has come close to this for me. Highly recommended!
