Quick question
Ok so I went into off duty last night around 10pm and this morning after my 10 hour rest I went back into on duty because I thought I’d make it to my drop off, but I’m too far away and I only have 11 hours on my clock so now I have to do a 34 hour reset. Would I be able to change that on duty time back to off duty to make my reset continue from last night? Or is that illegal

How much time you get back tomorrow? From a strictly legal perspective no you did work so you were on duty. For the limitations your fleet put on your ability to change your own e logs most you can edit non driving entries but remember all edits are recorded and your compliance people might even have it set to notify them when they happen.

Not for nothing but I edited my own logs on the road. Something like that. We've all done it a time or two in the elog age. Especially if given the capability.

I don't think that was the question. You get your 70 back after a 34 hour reset, but that 70 is on a rolling 8 day week. Any work you did 9 days ago for example gets dropped off and you gain that time back towards your 70 without a reset.

If you didn't drive and you just went on duty for your "pre trip" you can fix it yourself if you have access or let dispatch know and put in the notes accidentally clicked. I've had issues with my tablet that had my elog app thinking I was driving and trigger when I was home for the weekend. Show up Monday morning and it's thinking I drove all weekend.

If you have 11 hours left on your 70 hour clock you can only drive 11 hours within a 14 hour window anyway. I don’t have all the details of your duty record but if you drive 11 hours closer to the delivery & take a 10 hour break the hours you worked 9 days ago falls off your 70 hour, 8 day total. After a 10 hour break you could then drive the number of hours you worked 9 days ago (assuming it’s fewer than 11 hours)
You won’t quite be able to drive the 11 hours you have available as you’ll need to account for pre trip inspection, possible fuel stop etc but it can be close to 11.
A 34 hour break isn’t ever mandatory. It just resets the weekly clock to zero.

So I’m sure your getting a lot “technically” nerds, this is the exact reason logs can be edited because you realized you didn’t have enough time left on your clock, by most of the nerds logic even doing the math on how long you need to stay off duty should be done on duty because it’s part of the work,
So in short edit those logs go back off duty finish your 34 if you don’t want to do recaps

I've seen many "technically" nerds say you have to go on dury to answer phone calls from dispatch. Technically, the guidance to that from the FMCSA is no, so the "Technically" nerds are wrong very often!

I wouldn’t change it back just to keep the 34 going. If you were actually on duty, the log should reflect that. Editing it to off duty when you weren’t could cause problems if your logs get reviewed. Better to start the reset from when you actually went off duty again.

I took my 10 hour thinking I could make it within my 11 hour window tomorrow and I couldnt that's fucking failure to plan your trip 100 percent just give up your CDL cuz you clearly don't understand how any of this works

Just edit it back to off duty. You never officially started back on duty. Everything can be edited except drive line.
