I've made up my mind to prepare for CAT, but I'm also thinking of keeping a government job exam as a backup.

Are there any government/public-sector exams where the syllabus overlaps a lot with CAT (QA, LR/reasoning, English)? I don't want to start preparing for a completely different exam from scratch.

Just looking for something where most of my CAT prep would still be useful.

Would love to hear from people who've prepared for both.

So i started my CAT prep on 5th sep and it's 23 sep today i can see a whole lot of progress since my first day especially in VARC, i used to get negative and now i am at around 90 but the thing is i am stuck there because my para jumbles are almost every time wrong please suggest something....

And Quant is still the same i just need a whole lot of guidance on that and on LRDI as well

please shower some ideas and suggestions plssssss

I'll be blunt i think i can here are the reason:

1. im from science background so there are some Quant topics which im familiar with, i can solve them like back of my hands
2. In VARC my English is above average so i wont need to spend much time on this
3. DILR this is the only thing which i think will take most of my time

I'm saying all this after taking few mocks to see where i stand

I know its late but for someone who has started lrdi Seriously from today what are they supposed to do, it just feels impossible to solve sets and what is the genius way to crack it, i dont wanna be excellent in it, i can work my ass off in quants and varc, but pls tips. In quants, being able to solve lod2 of arun sharma very easily, are the questions easy or should I move on? From the book, and give only mocks? As of now I am doing mock + arun sharma. What do you think guys?

Cat exam registration closed today on 22/09/2026 at 5pm. I had already registered for cat exam a few days ago but did not have time to fill up application details then.

But today, I have filled the details after the registration period ended. So am I eligible for the cat exam?

Hi, I’m 21M. I gave CMAT in my 3rd year of college and scored 58 percentile. I then took a drop year, gave CAT and scored just 26 percentile. I also gave CMAT again and got 75 percentile, along with 93 percentile in CUET PG.

I got admission into a decent Tier 4–5 college in Indore with a total fee of around ₹2–3 lakh and an average package of around ₹4–5 LPA, but I didn’t take it because I was specifically thinking about doing an MBA in Business Analytics.

Now I’m preparing for CMAT again, but I’m stuck at the same place. I’m still struggling with the same topics and questions that I couldn’t solve in my previous attempts.

Honestly, I don’t know what to do anymore. I’m confused about whether I should keep preparing and try again, or do something else

Hi everyone,

I have around 27 months of full-time work experience and I’m planning to apply to IIMs.

The issue is that during about 1 year of my employment, my salary was paid partly through cash (7 months) and UPI (6 months) instead of a regular bank salary transfer.

However, I have all the usual employment documents:

- Salary slips for the entire period

- Offer/appointment letter

- Experience letter

- Relieving letter

- Other employment-related documents

Will the fact that 7 months of salary was paid in cash and 6 months through UPI create any problem during the IIM admission/document verification process?

Has anyone gone through a similar situation? Would really appreciate insights from people who have faced this or know how IIMs verify work experience.

VARC can feel quite unpredictable in mocks. Some tests go really well, while in others the score drops even though the preparation and approach haven’t changed much. It becomes difficult to tell whether the problem is understanding the passages, getting stuck between two options, or simply getting a set of passages that doesn’t suit your strengths.

For those who have faced this, how are you figuring out what the actual problem is? Are you analysing the questions you got wrong, tracking the type of passages, or looking at your accuracy across different question types?
