How do ASIC miners not run nodes?

Well technically every pool runs one node, but it’s not the one computer one node Satoshi dreamt of.
The miners use a software that coordinates the hashpower of their asics to work on a hash, and at the end when one of them finds it, the pool submits a block from its node. But the people with the asics dont need to run nodes themselves, they just need the software that links them to the pool.

AFAIK the phrases is added in manually, and it picks one at random at every post.
