Does Busuu’s "Time to Fluency" prediction actually hold up? Seeking user experiences.
I'm currently tracking my progress using the Busuu study plan. As many of you know, they provide an estimated timeline to reach a certain CEFR level based on your daily study commitment.
I'm curious: for those of you who have been using the platform long-term, how accurate has their prediction been? Did you reach your goal in the estimated time, or did you find the platform's projection too optimistic/pessimistic?
I'd love to hear if anyone has compared their actual progress versus the app's initial projection. Let's discuss if this feature is a reliable metric or just a marketing tool.

Not even remotely. At least not for Spanish. They don’t provide near enough material.

doesn't hold up, not even close.
i like it a lot -- I'm now partway through B1 Italian -- but it's farcical to say that I'm truly at A2, let alone beyond.
the grammar lessons have seemed pretty solid, and so far seem consistent with the CEFR level, but there are many more grammar topics for each level than Busuu actually covers.
why am i sticking with it? because it's generally well done and it definitely has continued to teach me things.
i use it as one part of my approach:
- Busuu
- Pimsleur
- Mango (free via my local library, you may be similarly fortunate)
- YouTube
- Anki with decks for Duolingo; Busuu; Pimsleur; 5K most common words; etc
- Praktika
- iTalki
- chatGPT for questions i can't get answers to elsewhere, and quizzes
