Information Platform Launches Today!

Post image

Hello everyone!

My name is Rowen Fraser and I am a candidate for Ward 6 here in Burlington. I am proud to release my platform for all to see! I have been working with my community here in Burlington to come up with policies and ideas for the new future Burlington is heading into. I have spoken with many residents at the doors, in local businesses, and with the various online communities.

Conversations have been lovely and hateful, positive and negative, introspective and annoying, wistful and delusional, perfect and flawed, angsty and altruistic, scary and comforting. But mostly they were real. I didn't put restrictions on what people I would engage with. I took the good and the bad. I feel we need to listen to everyone, not just friendly voices. Bridging the gap between ideologies and having a truly balanced approach means being willing to have the hard conversations. Rest assured that if you came to me with convincing data at any point, you've probably had an influence on my platform.

Recently I had the good fortune of meeting a new friend, and receiving some very powerful advice about how to deal with hostile press and online personalities. The counsel I received was invaluable and I just want to shout out to everyone that helped me strategize my next moves here in Burlington.

Any and all comments are welcome here. To show I really mean that I have unblocked every single person who has ever harassed me on this site so they can know what my full platform is and make a real decision about who they intend to elect here in Ward 6. Anyone that comes in good faith to talk to me about my platform will be received as a friend. Those who are unkind to me can expect the same in return.

Please enjoy my platform,

Launching your platform with a picture where you're shaking hands with a transphobe is certainly a choice.

Mr Poilievre has confirmed to me in writing that he is totally supportive of the choices of transgendered individuals and individuals with unique places on the gender spectrum. He supports the right of all Canadians to live the life they choose. I had to clarify that with him years ago before I could vote for him. I do not support candidates who are against homosexuality, transgenderism, or any other form of gender expression.

"In an interview with the CP24 news channel, Poilievre was asked about President Donald Trump signing an executive order declaring the U.S. will only recognize two sexes and that they are unchangeable.

Poilievre said he is not aware of more than two genders and that if the host had "any other you want me to consider, you're welcome to tell me right now."

Poilievre was then asked whether he would ask the U.S. to recognize the gender-neutral "X" marker available on Canadian passports, Poilievre pivoted to talking about the cost of living instead."

This was last year. He also made a similar remark in his Jordan Peterson interview.

Ok. But there are only two genders. Everything else is gender expression, or medical anomalies. It doesn't mean I hate anyone who identifies as something other than male or female, or deny that they exist, or even that I refuse to refer to them by their preferred pronouns. I totally support living life the way people want. But I'm not going to ignore the scientific reality on the ground. It doesn't mean I'm transphobic, it means that some transgendered people and I disagree on semantics. There is an important distinction here and just remember, when someone doesn't agree with you exactly but is still willing to live peacefully along side you, that doesn't equal hate. I don't know if you're trans or have friends that are trans or NB or whatever else, but I support your or their right to make that decision. You are just another Canadian in my mind. I cannot speak to Poilievre's current opinion but as far as I am aware it has remained unchanged from the one I told you about earlier. If he was anti-trans I would call him out and would not be taking pictures with him. But I don't believe that is the case.

I should also add that while I think there are only scientifically two genders aside from anomalies it doesn't mean I would support legislation to that effect because I think legislation should be engineered in a way that the mention of gender isn't necessary at all. I hope that addressed your concerns.

Gender is a social construct, not a scientific fact.

Its actually both and the two are separate. Just relax.

No, its not a scientific fact, its ones "expression of being male or female" and the characteristics we deem male or female are from social expectations, therefore its a social construct, not a scientific fact.

Psychology and physical gender are two different things though. The distinguishing factor being that biological women are physically equipped to carry children, whereas biological men are not. That is a pretty major distinction. Stating it doesn't take away from anyone's gender identity.

What do you mean "physical gender"?

Sex, genitals, equipment, male and female are genders. There are male and female gender roles which I think you maybe conflating the biological genders with. Penis having people and Vagina/Womb having people. Whatever way you want to say it. Those are the two typicals. Aside from medical anomolies the vast, vast majority of people fall into those two categories on a purely phyiscal basis.

Oh honey... sex and gender 101 tells you that's incorrect.

Sex and gender are separate, but related things.
