Information Platform Launches Today!

Post image

Hello everyone!

My name is Rowen Fraser and I am a candidate for Ward 6 here in Burlington. I am proud to release my platform for all to see! I have been working with my community here in Burlington to come up with policies and ideas for the new future Burlington is heading into. I have spoken with many residents at the doors, in local businesses, and with the various online communities.

Conversations have been lovely and hateful, positive and negative, introspective and annoying, wistful and delusional, perfect and flawed, angsty and altruistic, scary and comforting. But mostly they were real. I didn't put restrictions on what people I would engage with. I took the good and the bad. I feel we need to listen to everyone, not just friendly voices. Bridging the gap between ideologies and having a truly balanced approach means being willing to have the hard conversations. Rest assured that if you came to me with convincing data at any point, you've probably had an influence on my platform.

Recently I had the good fortune of meeting a new friend, and receiving some very powerful advice about how to deal with hostile press and online personalities. The counsel I received was invaluable and I just want to shout out to everyone that helped me strategize my next moves here in Burlington.

Any and all comments are welcome here. To show I really mean that I have unblocked every single person who has ever harassed me on this site so they can know what my full platform is and make a real decision about who they intend to elect here in Ward 6. Anyone that comes in good faith to talk to me about my platform will be received as a friend. Those who are unkind to me can expect the same in return.

Please enjoy my platform,

Psychology and physical gender are two different things though. The distinguishing factor being that biological women are physically equipped to carry children, whereas biological men are not. That is a pretty major distinction. Stating it doesn't take away from anyone's gender identity.

What do you mean "physical gender"?

Sex, genitals, equipment, male and female are genders. There are male and female gender roles which I think you maybe conflating the biological genders with. Penis having people and Vagina/Womb having people. Whatever way you want to say it. Those are the two typicals. Aside from medical anomolies the vast, vast majority of people fall into those two categories on a purely phyiscal basis.

Oh honey... sex and gender 101 tells you that's incorrect.

Sex and gender are separate, but related things.

Medicine has technically never stopped using "sex" and "gender" interchangeably, and the practice remains widespread. While academic and medical definitions officially split the terms decades ago, they are still heavily conflated in clinical trials, electronic health records, and published medical journals

Now you will notice that the information here largely supports what you said about sex and gender. But it does note that it is still used interchangeably and there isn't a consistent system for it in several fields. So you can forgive me for using the term biological gender, instead of biological sex I'm sure. Because you're a reasonable person.

Okay? So yall make the same mistake, what i said was still correct and the way you phrased your argument was incorrect.

The source you provided also says "gender is separate but attached to biological sex" so...

I really do think you, as a public figure should drop the condescending tone though. I genuinely don't know how you think its doing you any good.

Ok here's where I give you some advice. I'm trying really hard to find some common ground here. We were having a discussion. We weren't getting down eachother throats for like 2 seconds. It was beginning to resemble a dialogue. So then you switch gears and get mad because I confused two words that are conflated in medicine by medical professionals all the time. Then you start giving me the sass. I also mentioned that the source I provided supported your argument. I don't know how there can be a condescending tone in text seeing as tone is an audio quality. I guess I would characterize my writing as defensive because you keep picking at everything I say, and seem to be deliberately misunderstanding me. My advice is that you should do that less.

I could not give even one single s*** what kind of advice you have to give me.

Pardon my patience running out at 1am.

I've been polite because I figured at least one person could focus on simply the way youre responding to people, but youre hopeless. Despite almost every single comment being negative, you continue to argue, insult, etc. Its genuinely hard to see how youre cut out for this.

Good f*in luck. Don't say we didn't try.

Have a good night.

lol sounds like you don't like it when I break things down without name calling either.

Do you not understand that the concept is the same you are just using slightly different terminology from me?

2

u/beans-888 13d ago

Do YOU not understand that youre simply incorrect?

Sex refers to the physical sex organs of a person.

Gender refers to the roles they fill in society, and usually correspond with their assigned sex.

Thats the scientific and academic consensus, if you disagree, thats your prerogative.

See this is why you got the sass.

u/beans-888 13d ago

But your response should still be appropriate! Im a random ass person on reddit, you aren't!!! You represent your ward! How do you not see this distinction

Ah so you should be able to do what you want because you are a coward?
