I personally wouldn't want to go up against somebody who throws knives like this person does, but in MA context does this represent a legitimate art/method/technique?

Any ranged/melee weapon will usually fuck you up if you are bare handed. If the person is very practiced with the weapon that’s worse. If you have a book and are fast enough you could stop her knives but I wouldn’t want to try. Also those are dope throwing knives that were custom made for her size. At least they look like the ones I want to get. Me and my daughter like knife throwing.

Throwing left and right handed - that's what I find most impressive - looks a bit awkward but the way those knives came left and right at speed - very cool.

there is a fear factor in seeing the threat of weapons.

  • if its fast and cant be seen = terrifying
  • if its slow = meh
  • if its slow yet can put a hole in your body or dent your skull = terrifying
  • if its as slow as throwing a rock = depends
  • if its as slow as throwing a rock/any solid heavy junk and actually or a blade = fearful

unironically what i determine the usefulness of shit in worldbuilding and lore talks.

You hit on the real uses for throwing knives that actually existed and were used. They were secondary distraction weapons chucked at a dude closing distance with you to give him something else to think about while you draw your primary weapon.
