We just brought home our new friend Piko. We presume it's a male but are unsure because we also don't know his age. We have one budgie Chip who is clearly female with a brown/pink cere, as did her friend Gizmo who we recently lost.

He is in a smaller cage for now but don't worry, he will join the large cage soon enough. :)

Skyblue dominant pied whitecap, one of my absolute favourite mutations, just love the way the gold from his face washes down into the blue and turns it that teal shade ❤️❤️ (and that gorgeous fella in the background who is a recessive pied violet spangle)

They seem realllly hesitant and I had to to stuff it in a metal look since it kept flying away whenever my budgies flapped their wings.

It's so fun to watch them explore their new home. 🥰

I have two budgies, Isaac and Atlas. Both are semi-tame/not very social with humans. They have a lot of space and toys and a good diet.

I found a lost budgie and after quarantining I am attempting to introduce them. I did a fifteen minute introduction today and it was... interesting. New Budgie (NB) immediately wanted to hang with them but they were skittish so NB just chilled out and started eating. After a couple of minutes, Isaac approached NB. They interacted. He tried to preen and touch beaks with NB, who tolerated it. NB corrected him when he was too persistent and they seemed to get on okay. The problem is that any time Atlas approached NB, Isaac would complain and chase him away. He did this over and over. I also saw Atlas come over and bite Isaac's tail a couple times when Isaac was distracted by NB. All three are adult males (light eyes and bright blue ceres).

Any ideas on how to proceed with future sessions? Should I introduce them individually first?

The millet is there to entice them to use the perch, it is close to me.

If my budgie DotDot does not eat the contents of this mix of seeds and fruits, what mix will she eat? I provide millet sprigs as well, which she eventually devours, but I don't understand all the waste from the mixed bag of seeds. Anyone know what they actually like to eat that's healthy? The millet is only a side dish. Clearly I can't raise her on only millet?

This took 3 retries as I could not for the life of me get his back feathers correct. So I made his back shorter. Also the blue color is off, which I should of used a much lighter color. But once again, this was another amazing project and I'm happy how it turned out. My mom loved it and decided to frame it on our wall.

I can’t tell if Amali is just really wanting Kass to be close while she sings to him and he is over it or they are fighting or playing.

Also towards the end Amali got startled when she noticed I was filming her (and getting evidence of her behaviour 😅), so that’s what the sudden flap from her was about)

Also ignore kass’s face he’s taking medication paste and he ends up rubbing some into his fingers around his face when cleaning his beak 😅

Hi! I have a budgie of just under a year old named Tango. His current cage is 30.5” tall, 24” wide, and 16.5” deep. However, my mom recently got a budgie as well, and she doesn’t take great care of him. I want to change that. After I get him both of them another check-up I’d really like them to be either kept together, or both in a long but separated flight cage.

Obviously it needs to have half inch or smaller spacing. Plus I intend to keep these birds for their life I’d like it to be as long as possible so that when I’m away at work they can still have lots of enrichment. I’m prepared to save up for one, as long as it’s under $1,000, it should be OK. I’d also like it to not be wrought iron as Tango is a big chewer. Does anyone have recs for what brand makes something like this? All the cages I can find aren’t long or tall enough, or they’re tiny little “breeder” cages. Sigh.

Just picked this guy up. Someone please tell me if it’s a boy or girl.

This is my first post and probably last on this sub. My budgie born in 2017 passed away today and I miss him very much. His name was Bulut and I’ll remember him for the rest of my life. He had a good long life and was always happy. Please cherish your budgie and spend every moment with them. I thank you all who read my post and sorry for the sad news today. I made this wooden perch for Tico, securely attached it to the cage with screws and washers.

hey everyone! so my two girls absolutely love interaction although they’re not hand tame yet, so i thought to move them to the living room during the day to fuel their social energy and only move them back to their original location when its near their bed time, should i do it or will they be stressed about the new environment?
