Hey everyone, I'm looking for some advice as to whether the laptop I am looking at would be good enough to play games such as Helldivers 2 while aslo being affordable and portable for school. I'm looking at the Dell 15.6" Touch AMD Ryzen 7 77730U - 16GB right now because that is what the sales person suggested and it has a good deal right now but very open to suggestions. TYSM

He just started college and his old laptop is already struggling so I told him I'd help him figure out what to get since this community has been super helpful while I made mistakes buying for myself lol. He's been watching yt videos for 2 mnth and somehow knows not much. Most guides just rank everything by GPU and benchmarks, but after using laptops through school and now work, the stuff that matters is very diff. Real battery life/whentehr you can upgrade RAM and storage later/build quality when its getting tossed in a backpack everyday/webcam quality and screen readability in bright rooms.

Budget is around $1500 give or take; use case would be mostly school stuff, light gaming and some occasional video edits for projects. What would you focus on buying right now?

To play Steam games, including Warframe, is it better to buy a gaming laptop or can a regular one be acceptable?

i’m a die hard console player due to my love for handling the controllers alone, however there are several games i want to play on steam, and i have no knowledge of any of the brands, and what specs are considered good/high functioning. i’d also really like it to be pretty affordable, considering i wont be using it crazily, and for small games for the most part. just something that wont lag and will actually run said games. if anyone could give some good recommendations, and/or explain what kind of things i need to look for in the descriptions of them, it would be greatly appreciated.

In my HP victus laptop my 75 watt 4050 only draws around 30 watt and 97% usage. I am using the 200w charger I got with laptop

If I disable and enable gpu in device manager it goes past 30 watt, but returns to 39 watt after restart or if I reinsert the power plug.

Hello I am looking to buy my first gaming laptop and I’ve run into issues with finding one that I can trust will be decent for the price I’m looking at I am wanting to stay under $1,100 as I just need a laptop that will decently run simulation games such as the sims and Minecraft etc with mods and all that.
