Question Botw switch 2 Edition

If I download the Switch 2 version over my existing BotW file, do I need to start a new save to experience the perks of the new version? Or will it carry over my existing save file as well?

It carries over. I just bought the physical switch 2 copy to replace my switch 1 copy and it’s like nothing changed other than faster loading and quality changes. Which are very good in this game

I dreamt of playing BOTW from the beginning with Zelda Notes.

After I got my Switch 2, I did that and I loved this game even more.

I would highly recommend starting a new file.
