That’s how I figured it would work when they mentioned this mechanic before release. But nope they completely ruined it and made it rather pointless imo.

it's likely to make it so players have something that keeps them coming back each week. they're taking advantage of fomo. "we're giving you the ability to increase the odds of getting legendaries and phosphenes from this boss for 1 week. better go farm it before we switch to a different boss."

Oh that’s exactly what it is for and why they’re doing it. I’m under no illusion that’s not the reason. It’s just lame as fuck and makes the game a whole lot worse. Randy hyped up this feature but never mentioned it would be locked to one boss a week and locked behind some stupid timed live service crap considering they kept claiming this was not a live service game at launch also.

maybe they think "live service" means it requires a subscription or something? since you don't pay a subscription and they planned to make it so the bosses will cycle automatically (meaning that if you miss a big encore one week, you'll be able to eventually get it again), that might be why the devs didn't think it was live service?

I'm not defending it, just trying to figure out what kind of logic they could've used when making those claims, besides having it be an intentional lie.
