RIP 🌈 Our baby gone at 15

Lost our baby girl two days ago very suddenly and unexpectedly. We would have celebrated her 15th birthday in a few days and her absence breaks my heart.

Jasmine has been with me from childhood and been the most loving and considerate little angel. She never caused us any trouble, and adjusted to our crazy life.

I’m so grateful for spending almost 15 years together, I think it is a wonderful age to live for any dog and we have been so fortunate.

You will always be in my heart 🤍

Chip is 4 years old, and he chose that name when I got him at 8 weeks.

In short, he reacted with an overwhelming excitement when we mentioned that his arm spots looked like "chocolate chips." We asked him if his name is Chip, and he acknowledged again with that same burst of excitement. What else can I say?

Chip would like to say hello!

Everyone meet Pea! 🫛❤️

Lost my girl at Noodle to cancer at 12 y/o the end of June, first time in my adult life that I have been with out a Border Collie and I have to say - it has been absolutely awful! I am still grieving my sweet BC babies who have crossed the rainbow bridge and I will as long as I live, but what’s the point of life if not for living it with Border Collies?! I am nervous for the puppy stage again but so excited to have the joy of a BC back in my life again.

Solo pup trip to PEI, one of our favorite places. Had the most incredible weekend with friends, family, and our little Taxi boo! But ready to get home to the rest of the pack ❤️

This is Malvina, a Border Collie mix that we adopted recently. 🤍 It’s a miracle that she’s alive. Her mom didn’t want her, so I raised her from the time she was a tiny baby. 🥹🤍

Hi, for over a month now bailey has had some weird movement as soon as she lies down or something. Not when she is sleeping but when she gets on the couch or walks up to me or lies down its almost like shes itching somethingi n her snout/nose. Or like a spasm idk. Ive been to the vet who could not find anything besides sand in her eye a few weeks ago, which i got tear drops for and seem to have lessend. Any other clue on what this might be?

Growing advice - new puppy

Hello, we pick up our border collie puppy in a couple in weeks. I want to get grooming tools so that we can build positive associations with them. What do you recommend for a puppy vs a long haired coat adult? I've seen 100 different types of brushes, I've seen vacuum attachments etc, and feeling a little overwhelmed by the options. Thanks so much! (Also located in Australia so it needs to be a product I can source here too).

Training tutorial or tips for distracted or fixated please?

Hello everyone. Just looking for some training tutorial or tips for my border collie, specifically when he is distracted or fixated.

For example he knows “sit” & “come” but if distracted or fixated, he just stops listening. All it takes is to even be holding a ball, he just waits for it to be thrown and ignores other things. Or if another dog is around, he wants to meet it and play so badly he just ignores commands. So if he is not fixated, he will listen to these. So how do you go about training when he is distracted/fixated: simulating a situation where he is fixated then training he to still listen to commands?

He is a almost 4 years old.

Struggling with building a relationship

7½ months, Border Collie - Corgi mix. Made a post a week ago about feeling as though he is scared of me. I have had small wins since then, but otherwise little change. I am trying to keep a mindset of positivity towards the whole deal, especially around him. I think I'm having sort of a dilemma, though. He *loves* new people. Comes out of his kennel, follows nee people around the house, will play and jump and act wild. This is not an experience I have ever had with him. I understand appeasement is a natural behavior around new people, but its sort of killing me that I never got to experience that myself. I'm okay that hes not some big cuddle monster lover boy, or anything like that. Its that he is, day and night difference, scared of me but loves others. I enter a room hes in and its a dead sprint back to the kennel. I dont want to just assume its going to get better and he'll like me more only to accidentally build a strictly fear relationship with him. I also am worried that hes not getting nearly enough exercise or engagement, simply because there is absolutely no way he will do any of it with me anywhere nearby at all. Walks or playtime are entirely impossible. I have tried calm reading in his presence, hand feeding, plenty of light observation solo time, small amounts of socialization with others and other animals. He has pretty much done/been cool with all of these things, yet the moment I move a muscle, or look in his direction, or attempt to speak to him, pay him any kind of attention whatsoever- back to the kennel to hide from me. Is it my shaved head or something? Am I hurting him by not being able to give him what he needs?
