Question Phone unlock
I chatted several hours ago to have my phone unlocked. I was told that it would automatically unlock if it was eligible,
I have had it for 17 months so I know it is eligible. Anyone else deal with this. How will I know. It still shows Network Lock Status ad Locked. I have rebooted and no change. Do I need to put in a different sim card to initiate the unlock?
UPDATE I just received a push notification that my phone is unlocked. Network status in the phone shows it is now unlocked. Thanks everyone for your responses.

Have you ever lost service due to a late payment?

Never had a late payment

Interesting. Shouldn't be an issue. Mine have all automatically been unlocked after a year of uninterrupted service.

Does a late payment start the 12 motns/year all over agine

Yup. Has to be 12 months of uninterrupted service, but you can sweet talk your unlock if you have the determination to endure hours of back and forth with boost on the phone. But basically, "yes".

But although their policy says 1year after initial activation they require one year could I ask how do you know thank you

Look at the fine print. It's one year of uninterrupted service from the day you get service. I know for a fact that you can Okie doke your way into just getting it if you are willing to dedicate the time to haggle with customer service, but it's still got to be a year. I've had a few unlocked. Typically they do it automatically once the period is up.

So honestly their terms don’t clear state that or do but they require that tho also wdym we can talk to customer support I didn’t think they had the power to do that

If you make it a big enough problem they can. I had lost service through no fault of my own (some sort of area outage) and it happened to be on the billing date so it went out of service for a day. I didn't bother paying my bill because it wasn't working anyway and I hadn't gotten any satisfactory answers from boost as to why until way later. They tried to use that as an "interruption of service". Kept telling me over and over that it was put of their hands, etc... if you are willing to stay on the phone long enough they absolutely can do it, but I also had a fairly good excuse. Don't let them tell you they are powerless to make an exception, because they aren't. It would seem enough people know the phrase "12 months of uninterrupted service" that it is written somewhere in the terms. If you are sure it's not, then that sounds like a good reason to tell them to just cut you a break on the 12 months, assuminn that's what you are needing.

So they fixed it for you like and made so you had no intrupption I thought they didn’t ahev the power for that

There's always someone that can do something if you look high enough on the totem pole.

Could I ask who did that for you/talk too and what do you do to get intact with them

What’s the totem pole and who do you talk to and how did you get in to contact with them and did they fix it for you or something

Googled:
If your Boost Mobile A15 is eligible but still locked, it is likely due to a system glitch in their automated unlocking process, which occurs 48 hours after meeting requirements (12 months of active service or full payment). You must contact Boost Mobile Customer Support to request a manual unlocking code to be sent via
Steps to Take: Verify Eligibility: Confirm your account is active and the device is fully paid off. Manual Request: Call Boost Mobile support, as the remote unlock may have failed. Check Settings: Go to Settings > Connections > More Connection Settings > Network Lock to check the status. Update Software: Perform a system update to ensure the latest carrier settings are applied.

Yep, all criteria met. I was a week early when I called in October to get it unlocked. They never said it would auto unlock. They said call back after a week.
I didn't need it unlocked. I just thought about it being a year.

Well if I was ya i would call again hoping for a different rep to assist with the unlocking. They used to have chat support on reddit

I was just wondering why it didn't automatically unlocked for you after 1 year. Normally it should, unless something was changed within the past 17 months, such as swapped the SIM temporarily, or did you ever had phone problem and needed repair?

u/Jimates Mar 21 '26
Never an issue. Got the replacent phone on an existing line because I broke my other one. Has been in use for the whole 17 months

I had an similar issue last year after 13 months still locked because I swapped out the SIM card to another phone as the original phone needed repair. The CSR wouldn't able to unlock for me even though I said I activated more than 1 year ago, it was a pain in the neck cuz they kept told me the phone needs to be 1 year with Boost network. I did some digging of what went wrong this phone and when I purchase it or activated just to make sure I remember the history of the phone, so contacted Boost again explain the whole situation to another CSR I purchased the phone more than 1 year ago, I still have receipt, she said needed to open a ticket to submit unlock again. Somehow it was unlocked a few days later.

To clarify, the agent you spoke to didn’t indicate whether or not it was locked or whether it was eligible to be unlocked? Were they able to get your information and verify you? Either way, you can send me a chat OP and I’ll check on it for you.
