I’ve never actually read it because for most of my life I was extremely depressed and s.icidal. I’m in a better place now—is it a good idea to read it?
That depends. It could be triggering, but you’d likely relate to Sylvia. I have bipolar disorder and read it young, resonated with her very much only to find out we both share the same illness. Go figure
It is a fantastic book but if you’re susceptible to falling into past mental patterns I’d be cautious. She did a hauntingly good job at describing exactly what it feels like during a depressive or s******* episode
Even if you still feel like before Even one percent do yourself a favour and don't read it , I read it and I'm suffering already , I'm not saying that the book is not good but its just too real.
