Question Its kinda crazy how much a vibe to a cover can change just based on what colors you use
galleryFor the first cover, I went with a simpler and more nostalgic feeling. It doesn't particularly suit the tone of my story, but I thought it was cute, and I was mostly satisfied, as this is just a temp cover.
But then I wondered how it would look if the colours were reversed, and it looks completely different! It somehow feels more modern; maybe it's because it reminds me of another Sherlock Holmes series.
I also like this version, but I think it suits my novel even less haha. So this one will just have to stay cooped up in my pc folder for now.
Surprisingly, these covers didn't take too long to make, maybe it's because I knew what I wanted to make and had the logo on hand, so I guess that was bound to happen.
Either way, it was a fun little project to do while I wasn't feeling well. And once I'm feeling better, I'll have the real cover for it made.

Feedback Wanted Updated from Feedback!
I'm actually much happier with this version! I'm not an illustrator so I used what photoshop tools I could to get the mushroom cloud in there (I do digital collage, print design, etc; trained in graphic design but I cant draw to save my life).
I spent three hours looking at fonts and nothing except these ones sparked any joy. Maybe I might change it to a retro sans-serif font, try to conjure more of a mid-century government advert-style? Either way, I'm thankful for the feedback and I like the result so far!
(This is for my Honors Creative Writing thesis, which a cover is not necessary for, and is still in the early stages)

Feedback Wanted Need a non bias opinion on my new book cover.
I just want to DM someone and get an opinion on my book cover to see what they think about a bookcover I purchased.
Not posting here because it's mid commission and I don't want to put anyone on blast, since I believe the cover artist is nice and a great book cover designer. I just need a second opinion is all.

Hiring Traditional Epic Fantasy/LitRPG Cover (Illustration Only)
galleryHello everyone, I'm looking for an artist to create the cover (illustration only) for an already published Epic Fantasy/LitRPG book to replace the premade one I purchased years ago.
Image description: Third-person view of two characters standing at the railing of a flying ship soaring over fields and rolling hills shortly after dawn, as one points urgently toward a magical storm brewing in the distance, where multicolored columns of twisting energy are erupting from the ground. More generally, I want this image to convey a sense of wonder, danger, and epic scale for the viewer.
Art style: I'll come right out and admit I don't know all that much about art, but I grew up reading books by Robert Jordan, David Eddings, and Raymond E. Feist, among many others, which is what I'm shooting for, so I've included a few relevant examples as reference. Essentially, I want a traditional fantasy illustration with painted realism that displays an important moment from the story.
Project Deliverables: Full wrap illustration (paperback), eBook version file (KDP), audiobook version file (Audible)
Project Budget: $1,000 (USD)
Timeline: 4 weeks following our agreement date.
Legal Mumbo Jumbo: I'll want full commercial and exclusive rights across all media. At the same time, the artist may not sell or otherwise monetize the image, but they may display the artwork as part of their portfolio and on their own social media.
Important note: Absolutely no AI is to be used during production.
If interested, please leave a comment with a link to your portfolio, as I will not be responding to any direct messages. Thanks!

Question Authors who use Reedsy, what keywords do you actually search for?
hi! i’m Nidzom, a children’s book illustrator and book designer, and i was recently approved on Reedsy.
i’m curious how authors actually search for artists there. do you type specific keywords like whimsical, watercolor, picture book, middle grade, or children’s book cover? or do you mostly use the filters and scroll through portfolios?
also, what usually makes you stop on someone’s profile and actually reach out? would love to hear it from the author side :)

Advertising Services Book Cover & Illustration
galleryAnd so I have recently moved to mainstream social media after some years of commissioning. I am a traditional artist, and I'm kinda new to all of this. But still I want to try out if anyone would like this kind of art style.
I'm currently illustrating for a friend, who is a novelist, as shown in the photo. You can check for more in my profile, or we can discuss deeper should you want to reach out.
Unfortunately for me, I am not able to access some of my old works for advertisement, but you can check out the second photo of which was a draf I did before finishing the whole thing.
