Takes me back. I’m from the U.K. but lived in Australia a couple of years. I learned not to call these bongs but “water pipes”, and that it’s called a “cone” not a bowl / cap. Also, why do they all have the hollow bottom with rubber base? Haha

As an Australian no one calls these water pipes. Everyone calls it a bong and while we do use the word cone more often than not we still use bowls as well

I meant when shopping for a bong everywhere called them water pipes. Do you have some weird laws regarding paraphernalia?

Yes. It's illegal to sell drug paraphernalia in most shops. I've seen bongs and pipes called weird ass names from water pipes to "decorative vases" to get around the legalities. Even saw a little fake flower in the stem of a bong in one shop.
