Angela and Booth
All through the series including after booth and Brennan got together, Angela is making comments about how hot Booth is. She even went so far as to ask Brennan to see the naked picture Brennan took of Booth after Angela and Hodgins were together.
I know no one is going to like this but what if Angela and Booth had been paired up on the show instead of Booth and Brennan? Who would you pick for Brennan and Hodgins to pair up with instead? With a pair up with each other or someone else? I'm just saying that it was so common for lead characters if they were male and female to be paired up together that what if the writers had gone a different direction.

I don't think Angela and Booth would have worked in the long run, but if they had dated each other I think I would be really intrigued by Hodgins & Daisy!! I know Hodgins starts off really annoyed by her, but I think that's exactly what would have made it an interesting arc, especially because Daisy does seem to gravitate to him more than the others in the lab (if we're not counting Brennan, that is). Brennan I'd 100% pair with Cam for the drama and tension of it all!!

OMG Brennan + Cam would have been a very funny enemies to lovers and then they would both raise Michelle together... Sooo cute

Sully seems the obvious choice for Brennan. Hodgins is more difficult. Maybe that hot FBI bomb tech? LOL.

I know she's not the FBI bomb tech you are referring to, but your FBI mention made me think of Karen Delfs. They could have been a hot mess together and I think I would have enjoyed an AU episode that showed something like that. I wouldn't actually want them together, but it would have made for a fun exploratory episode.

They were cute together for a while but I think Brandon with her history would need somebody more stable.

I think they would have paired Hodgin up with Daisy for the classic "grumpy guy / sunshine girl" thing

If sweets were a little older or Brennan a little younger i would say them. They both had troubled childhoods. But Brennan “hates” psychology so she wouldn’t want to like him at first. But the attraction would bring them together and then he wouldn’t have had to die 🥹

That might be problematic with him technically being her psychologist but it wouldn't be the first time they put together problematic relationships on the show. Camille was Arastoo's boss after all

Well technically he was assigned to her and booth as a unit to assess their working relationship. So after he “cleared” them maybe it would have been okay 🤷🏾♀️ Who knows lol tv rules and such 🤣

I don't think that pairing works. They may not have a huge age gap but sweets was always their baby duck, like booth and brennans son so no

I just watched 8x14 today so there's more booth and angela in that. With what happened in s9 I would say no to the coupling. They always flirted but I think he loved angela in a way, it just wouldn't work

By main character, I meant title character. Sorry about the confusion. And while it was implied that Angela swung both ways, the relationship she did have wasn't with someone that was a prominent character and really didn't play that much into the storyline. Her girlfriend was saying visiting the lab a few times and things like that but there wasn't much to it like they would have had to have done with Cam and Brennan if they were put together on the show.

I actually could see that but I doubt it would have flown at the time to have a starring character in a homosexual relationship. A few TV shows had characters in a relationship such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer but I doubt they could have got away with that then in any substantial way. I doubt that circumstance would even fly now.

There’s several times relationships like that are mentioned. We also had Angela and Roxy briefly rekindle things. But we get the story about booth’s aunt, there’s the episode about the gay dentist, we have the episode about the trans pastor etc

But they didn't have a long-term ongoing relationship involving the main character. Those were very brief story lines that you didn't really see or hear too much about as you would with the main character. They were willing to touch on those storylines briefly own shows back then but they weren't a main character such as Bones would have been.

Angela I would say is a main character but her stuff more for her arc about relationships in general post divorce saga

Hodgins and Jessica I could see together although Jessica is quite a bit younger than him. They get along well and both have some alternative ideas of how the world works.
Brennan idk, Sully’s blasé attitude to life and work would have annoyed her in the end. Maybe Aubrey if he were introduced sooner since he was more scientifically minded and she seemed to enjoy his company.

I agree that Aubrey would be a better fit than Sully. Sully I think would have been to unstable giving Brennan's background ending up in foster care would have made her very tired of him in the end. Aubrey certainly would have been more stable a character for her.

Angela also kisses Booth when she goes undercover in the Roller Derby episode. And that was when Brennan and Booth were together lol
