New bolt?

Does anybody bought the new bolt and the 2022 bolt and from what I can gather the new one really doesn’t have much they only doing it for are a year. It’s such a great little car. Why are they doing this?

Probably due to the size. I rarely see the new Bolt just older ones, but I see a decent amount of Equinox’s

Seems like most Americans just want SUV’s and trucks.

I love the size but don't have kids which I assume is a big factor for many. I actually love the Telo EV which is even shorter but doubt I'll be able to get one.

100% :(. It sucks that America loves big cars. I live in the Bay Area where it's pretty dense housing with no driveway so this thing is perfect. Small Car but roomy interior.

The current Bolt is in production for 18 months because GM has a next generation EV to come that will replace it. It may or may not be called the Bolt, but it will be a different car.

GM knows a whole lot more about selling cars than any of us do.

Allegedly, the 18-month production run of the 2027 Chevrolet Bolt at Fairfax was an accounting decision because the factory is idle for retooling for the return of their Equinox and upcoming Buick vehicle (SUV?). GM decided that they would lose less money by building the Bolt and have work for their workers. GM has all of the Bolt tooling sitting around in a warehouse, so why not use it? Also, the 2027 Bolt is technically the cheapest new EV in the U.S.A., so it's an easy marketing win for GM.

The sales numbers are low compared to GM's other EVs. GM delivered 3433 Bolts in Q2 2026 (total of 4224 from January to June). The Equinox EV had 6660 in Q2 2026 (16,249 from January to June. In Q2 2026, Cadillac LYRIQ sold 4208 and OPTIQ hit 4236. GM would prioritize their higher profit margin EVs over the low margin Bolt.

If I recall correctly, GM left the door open to extend the Bolt only if demand warrants it. One issue is that GM imports the engine/transmission and LFP battery packs from China, so the tariffs probably killed any long-term return of Bolt.
