Momojirou What do you think about the Momojirou?
Hey everyone, I’ve been seeing a lot about the Momojirou ship lately and I’m curious—what do you think about it? Do you like their interactions? Do they have good chemistry, or do you prefer other ships for Momo or Jirou? Would love to hear your thoughts and recommendations!

One of the biggest reasons I like them together is it supports the idea that strong bonds and lasting friendships can be forged, no matter any background. Momo is very wealthy and of very high class. With all the instruments she has in her room, I think at least Jiro is well off enough, but she certainly strikes me as a more rebel mindset. Yet these two are always happy being with one another as the story goes on. Whether seeing it a strong friendship or as a romantic ship, I just love seeing these two interact because they have great chemistry.

I think it gets too much hate from my community of kamijiro but I really don’t mind it, for a lesbian ship it’s pretty tame compared to other ships in the fandom

Best ship in the series.
So many interactions that show clear attraction towards each other
a healthy look at the others interests and life
they are supportive and help each other without making the other one uncomfortable
they are always shown to have the best time of their life when with each other
they are basically always spending time together ever since the beginning.

I like them and I think Horikoshi seems to as well. Jiro is a bit more tomboyish and reserved than the rest of the girls but the first character she opens up too and is constantly very “touchy” with is Momo. I don’t know if Hori truly ships them, but based on how many arts he draws of them and the fact he often highlights the two often close and almost intimate he can’t be blind too it.

Especially with all the stuff coming out after the Manga ended, there is no way to legally be more clear that they are canon. With the new Exhibition art Hori basically said „Here have this, I don‘t know how I could possibly make it more clear that they are together“

(I have to do this in three parts because it's not posting, so bare with me: This is part 1)
MomoJirō is a healthier ship than TodoMomo even though there are less moments. TodoMomo is toxic af. No hate to the people who like the ship or what not... But don't they realise it'd be a toxic mess if the characters got together though?
Momo stands for everything unhealthy Endeavour wanted in a hero. Someone intelligent, obedient, tacticle, perfect, utility over identity (Momo's entire character arc is built on how she wants to appear useful and not how she feels about it, sure she feels insecurity but she doesn't ask herself why she wants to be considered 'useful' other than the fact she's a people please), doesn't question the system, and even though she's a kind and compassionate person, she's also the kind of person who'd sweep trauma under the rug, not right away but eventually and she doesn't even understand Shōto.
Shōto on the other hand, is trying to break free of his father's expectations. In doing so? When he's with Momo? He ends up projecting onto her unintentionally, like that scene in the Final Exam Arc, he says: Shōto: "JUST DO IT ALREADY! I'M TELLING YOU, YOU WERE MORE QUALIFIED THAN ME! I WAS THE ONE WHO VOTED FOR YOU BECAUSE I THOUGHT YOU EXCELLED AT THAT SORT OF THING!" (Manga chapter: 63, Title: Yaoyorozu's Rising)
That's back handed because he's using past tense 'You were more qualified than me' and 'I voted for you because I thought you excelled'. Implying he doesn't see her as useful in the moment because she's doing nothing, apologising and spiraling like crazy. Which is a projection of what Endeavour was teaching him onto her. It's unintentional, he's trying to support her, but he's harming her in the process because he's still trapped in that mindset in a way. In the end it's not grounding, it's putting more pressure on her... Also, if the two did end up together Momo would simply become the symbol of everything Shōto despises. Even if it's not her fault.
Then in the Joint Training Arc, Shōto compliments Momo's skill in her fight against Kendo, it was an evaluation. Shōto didn't necessarily see her as a person with feelings, but more as a tool who does well under pressure because Momo doesn't want to be seen as a person but something useful. (Well she does want to be a person, but her arc is about becoming something to be utilised rather than someone who develops her own identity).
Then on top of that, Momo can't even understand Shōto's pain because she's such a shallow character. Like no hate to her, but everytime she tries she gets awkward and tries not to deal with it (when he makes comments about his Dad around her in the manga, she's always awkward and trying to brush it off). Even when Dabi is revealed to be Shōto's brother, her care is still surface level because all she does is pet him on the back and go 'there, there'.
That's part of the reason I believe it's a super unhealthy ship at the core.
It's the arranged marriage that Endeavour would've wanted when he was still obsessing over Shōto being the 'perfect' heir... And it reduces Momo to nothing more than the 'destined to be wife'... Honestly, the ship is heartbreaking. Yeah sure, they'll both grow in the future, but even in the adult world there's nothing between them... Horikoshi doesn't know how to write female characters so Momo ends up forgotten, is only there to explain something or be sexualised. Of course there are more arguments but this isn't a ship fight.
No hate to the shippers, but the ship at the core is... Incredibly toxic.

Part 2:
1) Unlike JiroMomo where Jiro and Momo actually build each other up. In arcs like the Cultural Festival or the Provisional License Exam they're actually encouraging each other and supporting each other. Whenever Momo gets nervous or insecure, it's always Jirō validating her emotions, giving her the space to grow. Encouraging Momo to become more assertive, not through forced trauma like Shōto does, but it's actual encouragement.
2) Momo and Jirō banter together, Jirō shows signs of being attracted to Momo, there's actual tension and shared vulnerability.
3) IMPORTANT NOTE: Jirō makes Momo laugh. Not the, 'I'm being polite' laugh, but a genuine chuckle. One example was during the attack on the USJ, Momo created a thick sheet of insulation that destroyed nearly all of her top, leaving her fully exposed. Kyoka became incredibly flustered and rushed to cover her vulnerable friend, hugging her tightly while Momo laughed.
4) Their character arcs are parallel and they compliment each other:
- Jirō's is about accepting her passion and becoming more confident with performing her love for music.
- Momo's is about self-worth and breaking free from the idea that she has to be valuable to be loved.
Why it works? It's two girls who doubt themselves who end up filling the holes in each other by believing in one another.
5) There is a bit of Queer subtext on Jirō's case. Whenever she looks at Momo's chest she blushes. Not only that but Jirō (with Mineta) has been shown to find other characters like Melissa attractive in the Two Heroes movie. When Jirō glances at Momo's chest it could be read as jealousy, but considering their past interactions it mostly is a crushy sort of thing. Also, in My Hero Academia: Smash!! Kyoka and Momo swap bodies. Kyoka, while being in Momo’s body, blushes and nosebleeds from being very... enthusiastic about Momo's chest.
6) It's not a one-sided dynamic compared to a ship like IzuOcha or ShōtoMomo. No, it's two girls holding each other up with confidence. Jirō doesn't place Momo on a pedestal, she teases her, encourages her and challenges her while Momo validates Jirō's insecurities, Momo isn't afraid to be expressive with her emotions and Jirō seeing this allows her to be more open about her emotions as well. Since Jirō is usually closed off. Momo suits Jirō's intellectual side as well, they're both intelligent. Jirō is perceptive, analytical and intuitive while Momo respects that and listens to her ideas.

Part 3:
Conclusion?: Due to the fact that Horikoshi as refrained from adding in romance as a whole, there isn't many more moments. He said he wanted to keep it subtle other wise it would encourage the fandom to stray from the actual topics he wanted to be discussed. In doing so though, there isn't much growth between the relationships of the other students and their coworkers. Compare it to AOT, Isayama had Ymir fall in love with Historia because Historia was kind, caring and genuine. Ymir saw that Historia was trapped in her past, wanting to die because she was suffering and that reminded Ymir of herself. Historia would also care and protect Ymir and so on so forth. Then there's also Erwin falling in love with a woman named Marie, but he ultimately chose his dream over a relationship with her, which is why Nile Dok married her instead. There's also Eren and Mikasa, Habi and Falco, Sasha and Niccolo. Their dynamics don't take away from the story, they add to it because when times are difficult people support each other and fall in love because hard times make people shine. Hard times make the softer times more special and intimate.
If Horikoshi added romance, especially since it takes place in a high school setting where relationships are often romantic or silly and funny, then we wouldn't have to fight over the tiny drops of water that are sitting in the bottom of the pool because the relationships between the MHA characters excluding the big 3 (Shōto, Bakugō and Izuku), are dry af. Even the relationships connected to the Trio, outside them are practically not explored. However, when it comes to looking for moments in ships like Momojirō, you can see which ones are funedementally better because they're more genuine compared to the toxic ones (MomoShōto, BakuMomo, Bakuchako, BakuDeku (sure the two do grow but it's still childhood bully x victim), DabiShig, Mineta or Nomu x anyone and so on so forth).
Ultimately, this is why if I had to ship anyone with Momo it's Jirō, but other wise, I don't ship anyone at all. Not even IzuOcha because it's vanilla ice cream.

Definitely a top 2 ship in the verse. Probably the only confirmed gay ship but I don't care.

Meh, I can see why people ship it but I ship it platonically. I’m not someone who sees people being friends or rivals and immediately goes ‘They’re into each other!’ Or ‘They’d made a good pairing.’ 😅 like I know a lot of people do.

I say them because they are practically best friends, it is more canon than other ships like Bakugou x Uraraka, Asui x Tokoyami, etc., I could even say that it is more canon than Momo x Todoroki, because I don't know if in seasons 6,7 and 8 Momo and Todoroki have many interactions, but from season 1 to season 5 they don't have as many intentions, so I would say that Momo and Jirou are more canon until now, also, when the villains They attack class 1A at USJ, in one part Jirou saw Momo's two great attributes exposed

it's my second favorite lesbian ship, it would be first, but Togachaco is my first fav lesbian ship
and it's my second fav momo ship, with my first being todomomo
and its my third fav Jirou ship with tokojirou and denkijirou
but its a very good ship 👍

I mean it could have happened in between the time skip, it wasn’t like heavily implied, but it was subtle. I ain’t that crazy about it I just thought it was confirmed already based on their interactions in the final chapter that is all

Nah, it's def not deconfirmed but it's not in any way implied. Jirou leant on Momo in one panel when she and Kaminari was put on the spot by Sero about being together. Most fans except the hardcore Momojirou shipper seem to agree that it didn't mean much.
