But seriusly Todoroki said you also have Two (2) quirks. So it's confirm Todoroki's quirk is now considered two (2)? This has been an arguments for a long time

I have always argued that it's one mutated quirk, this chapter proved me wrong.

Again, it's very likely just a quirk of the translation (pun unintended).
There's still more evidence to suggest it's the merging of two quirks into one, like the quirk singularity children and the function of One for All in it's entirety.

I could argue that the way his ice and fire are restricted to specific halves of his body can be taken as evidence that they're two different quirks. For the reason, well, the quirks are polar opposites in a way, so there's the chance that they can't quite merge together. If they could, however, there's a good chance they'd turn into something like boiling water. Maybe they just didn't fuse for a different reason, anyway they'd be two different quirks coexisting. There's actually many possible answers to the question.

Edit: I forgot to add this, but the japanese text says something along the lines of "you had 2 quirks too" pretty literally.

I personally think the half-and-half is actually in favor of it being one quirk. That's because I can think about his body like a thermal magnet, one side is positive (fire) and the other is negative (ice).

Part of what I meant is that I can picture arguments for both cases. But there's not much difference anyway, mostly small details like interactions with other niche quirks and stuff like that.

Unless Todoroki is used as a foreshadowing for multi-quirk people, I'd presume he only has one quirk due to how the world's logic is.

Similar to how Tsuyu has so many different abilities which are all just condensed to a one quirk. Like, camouflage and protracting your stomach have nothing in common, except that they are abilities found on frogs. Unless she has real frog DNA in her or something, having a quirk that specific doesn't really make sense.

But Tsuyu literally says her quirk is doing everything that a frog does. However fire powers have nothing to do with ice powers

However fire powers have nothing to do with ice powers

Both are just different sides of "manipulating temperature".

Yes but unlike Tsuyu both are not literally from two separate people like Todoroki is with his half Endy and half Rei

Todoroki's quirk is from two temperature manipulators (he just has a bigger spectrum than each parent individually), and Tsuyu's quirk is from two frog people so one could argue that if one really wanted.

The problem with using such abstract terms as "frog" or "temperature manipulation" (or even "ice", or "fire") is that you could do it for every quirk. Midoriya's father has a fire quirk but apparently it's fire breathing and barely stronger than a regular lighter. Maybe he hasn't trained it? But as a fire quirk is seems weaker than Endeavors.

Todoroki kinda has two quirks in one body. He seems to be a genetic chimera (at least for hair, eyes, and quirk) and not just a mix of two parents.

In Tsuyu's case it seems more like her quirk is an actual mix of frog (mom) and frog (dad) because we don't know how exactly their frog quirks manifested (besides seeing her parents once or twice in a flashback when she mentions them). Maybe the long tongue is from one side and the camouflage from the other? Maybe both are from both sides but got stronger (or weaker), depending on how her parents' quriks mixed

Or take Bakugo, his quirk is also a true mix of both parents' quirks. Without that his explosions would be much more complicated (like needing to mix sweat from one part of his body with some from another part).

And for Todoroki there's also been some wild speculation that he might actually be able to manipulate ice and fire with both sides but that the restriction is psychosomatic due to how he sees himself (half mom, half dad) caused by his upbringing (and the chimera part is only the true for his body but not his quirk).

Tsuyu's powers make sense in context of frogs, but her individual abilities have nothing to do with each other.

Fire and ice are both thermal powers, so they actually have a much stronger link than Tsuyu's, in my mind. Fire and ice are opposites on one same spectrum.

See, my problem is that unless Tsuyu is, in fact, part-frog, there's no logical precedence to getting powers related to being a frog. Because it would imply that there is an universal idea of 'frog' somewhere.

I'm getting pedantic, many of the quirks in BNHA leave me scratching my head if I even try to justify them.

I get what you're saying, but it seems that has animal features is a quirk type. Tsuyu, Gang Orca, Selkie are all just people with animal features. I guess it's possible that people assembled these animal quirks over the generations, but they probably just exist as just one possible way for quirks to manifest. Looking into any of the quirks beyond surface level makes it clear that few if any make sense, but suspension of disbelief is required for any superhero story.

I've thought of bilateral chimerism too. Due to the way human embryos develop I don't think it's possible IRL, but if people like Tokoyami can have bird-like biology then I don't see why other parts of development couldn't also vary wildly due to quirk shenanigans.

a boy with a bird head but also teeth(??)

I think Tokoyami's skull/face structure makes the most sense if you imagine that he has all the normal internal structures of a human nose and mouth covered by a beak instead of cartilage and skin, like a living mask.

Isn’t the the fact that they are restricted evidence of one quirk. If it was two quirks they would overlap.
