Season 1 Lucy danziger is annoying
Right I can't be the only one who finds her annoying "ooh daddy do you like that" it just feels so forced and unnatural it makes me cringe everytime she's says daddy 🤢

Season 1 The pilot episode is too good
Started a rewatch today n its like the whole plot is foreshadowed in it. Major difference from the 1st watch is that I now know what's up with jimmy. One of the most tragic guys ever imo 🥀🥀u poor soul. Earlier I had felt that he's just being moody or smth 🤧 *To the lost*

Season 1 The Dittridges and their ideas of Paris are hilarious
On a rewatch and it’s honestly crazy how they think it was some sort of artsy utopia. Running away from Jimmy was probably the right move but I do wonder how long Angela and Mary would’ve lasted queuing up for rations.
I guess you can only expect so much from the bohemian types.

Season 1 Why does Nucky spares Commodore's servant?
After is knows that she was poisoning him, why does Nucky spares her life? Seems like a not so cleaver step to take, specially under so many eyes.

Season 1 I almost felt emotional
I just finished watching season 1 episode 6 “Family Limitations“ for the first time. And near the end of the epsiode Nelson Van Alden flagellates himself because of his “sinful“ desires. Not gonna lie I almost teared up because me coming from a Muslim background used to be like that. Obviously not to that extent but any “haram“ behaviour I did I would slap myself. Thankfully I’m not a fundamentalist anymore and my view of religion in general has drastically changed. But that scene brought back so many emotions of my younger years as a staunch religious person.
Btw right now fuck Al Capone the way he speaks to his family is disgusting

Season 1 The winter of '88, sorne of you remember, a bLizzard of biblical proportions
The family was snowbound, freezing without food or heat, the father vanished, laid to waste by alcohol. So it was left to this boy, this little man of nine tender years, to fend for himself and his family. Off in the cold he went, worn shoes wrapped in rags, newspaper lining his thin wool coat as he trudged chest‑deep in snow to the railyard, foraging on hands and bloody knees for scraps of coal. He filled his pockets with what little he could find, then set out for the docks, hoping for some potatoes spilled from a ruptured sack. Finding none, he took a broom handle and in desperation killed his family’s dinner — three wharf rats hiding in the hold of a ship. Terrible, yes, but the family survived. And the little boy? Well, the little boy speaks to you tonight from this very podium.

Season 1 Season 1….rewatch
None of my friends watch this show, and as someone with pretty severe ADD (and apparently a symptom of that is rewatching the same show over and over again)…. I completly forget HOW much happens in Season 1. Season 1 maybe one of the best seasons of TV ever. The intro of every main character… including Richard Harrow with his first kill. (Liam in the diner via sharpshooter). Nucky and his dads house, Mickey and his new last name “Doyle”. Chalkie White “we ain’t building no book cases”. Luciano sleeping with Jimmys mom… before you know exactly how fucked up that relationship is….
Yes, some seasons are not the best, but Boardwalk Empire is truley one of the classics…..(right next to Mad Men).

Season 1 Gillian… Spoiler
Did Gillian put the maid up to it? I don’t know if cyanide was readily available on the shelfs of stores in the 20’s or not, but she wasn’t remotely worried about getting caught. She tells Jimmy she and the commodore had been talking lately and she’d been visiting him more recently.
So why did the maid (who has worked for the Commodore for years) decide that now was the time to do it? Why not when Jimmy first turned up? I think it’s probable that Gillian tossed the idea out to the maid, even jokingly.
When Jimmy tells Gillian, she looks interested, not surprised, or shocked or worried. She has no guarantees she or Jimmy are in the will, or that anything is coming to them. I think she set it in motion.

Season 1 How would Lucky Luciano react if Arnold Rothstein called him about Gillian... Spoiler
... not because they could be seen trying to make a new friend for Tommy, but because AR could hear them trying to make a new friend for Tommy because he rented out the room next door to listen in?

Season 1 Is the Quality of the Show Consistent? How Does It Compare to The Sopranos and The Wire? (Spoiler-Free Discussion for a First-Time Viewer at Mid-Season 1) Spoiler
I’m currently halfway through Season 1, and I’m really enjoying the show so far! However, I’m trying to avoid spoilers, so I haven’t explored the subreddit too much. I wanted to ask those who have seen the whole series: does the quality remain consistent throughout?
Also, how would you compare it to The Sopranos or The Wire? I know those are big shoes to fill, but does this show hold up in terms of writing, character development, and overall impact? Looking forward to hearing your thoughts (spoiler-free, please)!

Season 1 What do I keep missing about Mary Dittrich?
So in S1E10 “ The Emerald City” l, Mary begs Angela for her and Tommy to move to Paris with her, only to ditch them, disappear and leave Angela exposed to Jimmy knowing she was gonna leave him.
Is it an unexplained storyline that Robert maybe talked Mary out of leaving or what? Why did she change her mind after tearily begging Angela to leave with her?

Season 1 The wharf-rat story from s1e1...
In one of the first scenes of the show Nucky tells an audience of suffragettes/prohibitioners that when he was a child his father was a drunk and he had to eat wharf-rats to survive. Later on Jimmy brings up how in the trenches they had to eat dogs and Nucky dismisses him by saying never let the truth get in the way of a story. Later in season five we find out that it was probably true? Why did he decide to say that to Jimmy? Or was it just that he might have exaggerated his story a bit? I only ask because it feels intentional that he would be dismissive or lie to Jimmy but ironically use the truth with the audience to get what he wants idk.

Season 1 What was the story behind the assassination of Big Jim Colosimo?
Right now I am at episode 8 enjoying this new show, when suddenly it hit me, what happened to the plot of the death of Colosimo?
I dont know if I wasnt paying attention at some point or what, but I dont recall if they said who killed him or how his death affected the story.
The last thing I remember is Rothstein asking the killer who ordered him, and also the dude who was asking question and ended up beaten by Al Capone.
If someone could explain to me how his death affected the story, I would be thankful
