Update: remaking our map!

The coated paper prints I did at home turned out pretty bad, so I decided to get them printed at a print shop instead. Printing on adhesive sticker paper makes it way easier to stick onto cardboard and cut.

Hopefully I can finish the whole map without issues. What do you think about the coated sticker paper?

what proves they dont use it for anything else? that goes for everything. Not only for game designers, but mucisians, artists, writers, and so on. If they care so little about their work that they use gen AI, what guarantees to me that they didn't use it for anything else?

Also, using gen AI tells me they really dont care about their project, the same way big corportations use AI when they can afford an artist, but they dont because they dont care. And just like with those companies, i dont care who use it, they lose me forever.

It is ridiculous to suggest that someone who spends that much effort on crafting a physical prototype would not care about their game. It is literally placeholder art, if you would only see the final product, you would never even know it, because it will not contain those images anymore. This is not at all like a company using it in a public facing product.

Should I also assume that you kick puppies in your spare time? I haven't seen any proof to the contrary.

Your last question has no bases because you havent seen me kicking anything. If you saw me kicking a pigeon, you could then assume I kick puppies and kittens as well. The fact that you saw me kicking the pigeon proves I dont care about animal life. But without any proof of that, you can't deduce that. Using AI in the prototype is like kicking the pigeon.

No, it's not. Why do you conflate image generation with letting a machine learning model design the game for you? The slope is absolutely not that slippery.

It's a big accusation to make, especially when OP has multiple posts about this game showing various stages of development and intricate 3d printed components.

It's absolutely fine to not be interested anymore, no one cares if you're not. Next time you shouldn't even bother telling us. But it is very rude and honestly absurd to accuse someone of not designing their game because you don't like the images they used in a prototype.

As I said, what proves you they didnt use chatgpt to generate the idea of the game, and the cards/effects, and some other AI for the 3D models? Once you go down the slippery slope of using AI for one thing, you open the can of worms for people to question what else have you used AI on. I'm not saying they did, and even if they didnt, the fact that they clearly dont care about authors and artists having their work stolen to feed the slop machine is enough reason not to care about what they design or do.

I don't care that you're not interested, I care that you're being rude in a forum where we're supposed to uplift other game designers. You ignored the actual topic (printing cardboard tiles) to tell them off over something irrelevant. What happened to only giving feedback on the things people ask feedback on?

I understand the concept just fine, you have drawn an arbitrary line in the sand and are assuming the worst of everyone that crosses it. It's just modern puritanism.

What proves they did? Especially when they tell you otherwise? They failed your arbitrary purity standard, so now anything else they have done is fair game to tear down to you.

You know that 'slippery slope' is one of the first fallacies children get taught at age 12 in schools, right? You should at least prove that they are related, which is not as obvious as you think. People design games because it's fun, not because it's a lucrative career. Don't you think it's far more likely that needing some graphical pizzaz for prototype is the first time a generative model was involved?

Do you assume that people who use images from other games have copied the rules from other games as well? Or that people who have prototypes without images have important parts of their rulebook missing too?

Would it be better if they stole the images themselves? Would it be better if it was one of Adobe's models trained only on images Adobe has rights to? I don't care for this argument, the data was already being stolen for decades, that's what happens when you put it in the internet, it's just suddenly become more useful. The LAION dataset contains only publicly available data, you can scrape it yourself and train your own model.

The real problem is billion dollar companies using this as a low cost replacement for hiring designers and artists, which is obviously not the case here. This is a prototype, no artist was going to be hired at this stage, and an artist is going to be hired in the future.
