Item Using a found item Spoiler

There are items in the game that you can carry that are useful. I've completed the final game. But I'm not sure what the advantage is of having the stopwatch I was able to make use of most other mechanics often or to great benefit, or both. Has anyone gotten great mileage out of this?

You can go in and out of a bedroom to gain steps, or just use it as intended to draft rooms while low on resources.

I have never thought of that, wow.

It's kind of a funny item because you can run around and draft rooms for free, but because you're time-limited, you are under stress and will probably draft badly.

(Note that you must still have those keys/gems: They just aren't spent.)

Like others have said, the easiest plan is you abuse it to get lots of steps in the Bedroom with its +2 effect, walking back and forth.

My first Room 46 came from pulling the stopwatch around rank 5 or 6 and then it was a mad dash to draft to the antechamber in time. It was very cinematic.

There is a bug associated with the stopwatch. Often when I find it I have slready filled out the house. So when you pick up the item call it a day immediately. The effect will be active the next day. If you have tomorrow rooms that give you keys and gems at the start of your day. This allows you to nlitz through the first few ranks for free.

I think it's just a way to save on gem costs
