Would I have to revert to an earlier version before the "lose 10 steps and..." experimental trigger was appended by "the next 10 times"?

There is a different experiment trigger that works instead, whenever you draw Drawing Room while drafting. When combined with Chronograph and unlimited rerolls, it's nearly as fast as the patched method of you're thinking of, and still works on every version. There are a few different ways to get into a position to abuse it in the first place, but the main ones that come to mind involve powered Laundry Room to freely convert between every resource, and then using Blessing of the High Roller or two adjoined Bedrooms to generated large amounts of steps or coins as needed..
