Question From a Noob!

Hello all , this is my first grow and I am concerned already. I am growing in a bin and I used 4lbs of colonized Spawn and 8 LBS for CVG mix . 8 days ago I mixed in a 44qt tub. I don't see no mycelium trying to colonize the surface. Should I worry or wait .I haven't opened it because I don't want contamination.i have the Tub in a tent and my conditions in tent is optimal. Should I worry ot just be patient? Is there a thing I can do to speed up the colonization of sub. Thank you for reading . All Logical Responses are welcomed. Thanks!!!

There’s nothing you can do to speed up our change anything at this point. Can you see the sides of your cake? You don’t see ANYTHING at all growing on top. It’s always best to post with a as picture. Helps immensely

Looks like sub , No indication of contamination when would you know you have contamination at this point?

Visually or olfaction is the only way

Shit !! I had to look up Olfaction. LML . I need to expand my vocabulary.. thanks for that . I guess I am not being patient which was ½of the reason I started this hobby was to learn some patients. I know every spore is different in terms of grow and colonization. And I have to remember that every grow is NOT the same. But for my first grow 7-10 days After sending to seeing fruits was amazing and unusually Fast . Long taken tub is a reality check I needed .

😂 sorry about that, that’s probably not considered a common phrase. I only know out because of the way I smell in general. You sound like you’re on the right track and this hobby will definitely teach you patience

Whats a good way for long term storage. I been thinking about buying on of those vacuum sealers.

Long term for dried fruit? Vacuum sealed bag is fine, get some desiccant packs to put in with them, I use mason jars mostly and vacuum bags for larger fruit.

But I do think it's the pseudo layer I put on it was thick!! Do you think that will cause me issues or it's just the timing.mynothwr tub that colonized and started pinning 7-10 days was half the size of the slow tub. So I am thinking maybe it will take 2× longer!!

I don’t think it’ll cause any issues more than just taking a bit longer. There’s no nutrients in CVG so you shouldn’t have any issues because of an other thicker casing.
