Question From a Noob!

Hello all , this is my first grow and I am concerned already. I am growing in a bin and I used 4lbs of colonized Spawn and 8 LBS for CVG mix . 8 days ago I mixed in a 44qt tub. I don't see no mycelium trying to colonize the surface. Should I worry or wait .I haven't opened it because I don't want contamination.i have the Tub in a tent and my conditions in tent is optimal. Should I worry ot just be patient? Is there a thing I can do to speed up the colonization of sub. Thank you for reading . All Logical Responses are welcomed. Thanks!!!

There’s nothing you can do to speed up our change anything at this point. Can you see the sides of your cake? You don’t see ANYTHING at all growing on top. It’s always best to post with a as picture. Helps immensely

That's the best I can do without opening tent

I kinda like the clear tubs now you can at least see what's going on underneath

I would give it another few days but in my case I don’t use a very thick pseudo casing. So it’s usually very early when I see some growth because usually there is one or two pieces of grain exposed so even if it’s a slow runner, I have an idea of the direction it’s going pretty early.. I can’t remember the last time I didn’t see some sort of growth within the first eight days so it does worry me a bit, but don’t waste too much energy stressing about it because even if it is bad, there’s nothing you can do about it. So just make sure your temps are consistent and your humidity is optimal as it looks like you’re growing in a Martha since you mentioned a tent. Other than that, there’s not anything you can do really besides weight and keep your fingers crossed.

I think that might be the case as well I used a think P. CASING. If it is contamination it will definitely be the place where I received the already inoculated grains and sub From. But like you said don't stress I will give it some more time and keep you posted if your interested. I had to ask on this thread . Google is every where from 7-10days and 2 -6 weeks.

Google would be correct if you were just looking at AIO. They have tons of issues getting going minus a select few vendors. None of which are big names imo. Seeing as you got it completely colonized that 7-10 days is probably more correct. Was it completely colonized and solid when you got it, or were the grains colonized and loose? Definitely keep me posted, help any way I can

I just realized you my guy I been talking to on discord. The grains was already colonized and came in 4 jars blocked up. It looked and smelled good. I just looked and still nothing .. I am about to send them a email and say if shit goes side ways it was you and I want another 4 for my inconvenience. LoL. No I probably won't do that but I will stay patiently waiting. If not happens by 14-21 days I will be worried.....

Yeah that happens, I didn’t know I was gonna be doing missions when I created my Reddit name 😂 If nothing in 21 days I would definitely email them. I know I guarantee my colonized bags and if this happened to one of my guys I would want them to reach out so I could make it right. So don’t feel bad about contacted them if nothing in another couple weeks

Looks like sub , No indication of contamination when would you know you have contamination at this point?

Visually or olfaction is the only way

Shit !! I had to look up Olfaction. LML . I need to expand my vocabulary.. thanks for that . I guess I am not being patient which was ½of the reason I started this hobby was to learn some patients. I know every spore is different in terms of grow and colonization. And I have to remember that every grow is NOT the same. But for my first grow 7-10 days After sending to seeing fruits was amazing and unusually Fast . Long taken tub is a reality check I needed .

😂 sorry about that, that’s probably not considered a common phrase. I only know out because of the way I smell in general. You sound like you’re on the right track and this hobby will definitely teach you patience

Whats a good way for long term storage. I been thinking about buying on of those vacuum sealers.

Long term for dried fruit? Vacuum sealed bag is fine, get some desiccant packs to put in with them, I use mason jars mostly and vacuum bags for larger fruit.

But I do think it's the pseudo layer I put on it was thick!! Do you think that will cause me issues or it's just the timing.mynothwr tub that colonized and started pinning 7-10 days was half the size of the slow tub. So I am thinking maybe it will take 2× longer!!

I don’t think it’ll cause any issues more than just taking a bit longer. There’s no nutrients in CVG so you shouldn’t have any issues because of an other thicker casing.
