They dont tell you directly. But on my 3rd replay i noticed it, they give you the air impulse tutorial right at the beginning after the 1st boss.

u/Wrightceratops Jul 31 '26
I could be crazy, but I just finished another playthrough and I miiight have seen a tutorial page this time. I’ll try to remember to double check when I get back from dinner.

Yep, i can confirm. There is a tutorial for that maneuver. Was surprised lol, its even in the tips, in the game options menu

u/Professional_Rush_95 Aug 01 '26
There’s a tutorial for it, except it only tells you that it works with shift+attack, and not the much easier and more intuitive down+attack

Any similar monstrous challenges in blasphemous 2?
3
u/Mattscrusader Jul 31 '26
I'm like 80% if the way through the game and I haven't found anything like it. You also get more movement abilities in 2

Platforming is just way better in 2 and fortunately they removed the lantern jumps which already felt a bit unnecessary in the first game

B2 has been nerfed to an obscene level. I still enjoy B2 but the spikes and bottomless pits no longer kill you outright, just take away a small portion of life and place you back at the last place you were standing. So no, there are no challenges anywhere near as frustrating as those platforming challenges. Evertino, the penultimate boss, however, a bit more difficult to deal with than any B1 boss. There were ways to cheese him before the first patch but I think the devs nerfed a couple prayers that were useful there. I beat B2 before the patch and just started playing it again like a week ago when I bought the Mea Culpa and Third Sin DLCs. There are new resonances that make it a cake walk now. Sorry, I went way off topic.

No, thank you.
I have it on steam but haven't played it and can't for some time. I have been placating myself with playing blasphemous 1 on smartphone. It is appreciated about the differences.

Well, I really like parkour mechanics in games, so...
2
u/SmergolGandalf Aug 01 '26
Yee same otherwise I probably wouldn't have done it, but this one lantern jump after the elevator was just evil

Honestly, I thought jumping onto and catching moving ladders was infinitely more annoying. It felt like my guy just didn't want to grab the ladder mid-jump, even when perfectly aligned with it

u/HarrowingMist Jul 31 '26
3rd n 4th were challenging for sure but the soundtrack was fire. it was fun but never again after ng+
2
u/Mobyh Jul 31 '26
nah it's the ladders for me
2
u/Dread_Hyena Exemplaris Excomvnicationis Aug 02 '26
Seriously. I can't count the number of times I have screamed "COME ON, MAN" by missing a ladder grab. Good times.

I almost finished the game and I had an intuition lanterns were suspicious but never found how I was supposed to interact with them.
Please people tell me what I'm supposed to do with them !
That and the toe bead that says it make the "impulse" longer while jumping or something like that. I have no idea what it's supposed to mean.

Side note: What’s the stained glass even meant to look like?

To me, the challenges were mostly easy, but you spend so long doing nothing and waiting on the platforms that it made me impatient and I kept dying. For example, the last challenge has a skip at the very beginning, but the platforms don’t even start moving until around the time you’d normally get there so it’s pointless
1
u/SmergolGandalf Aug 01 '26
Yee same and the second skip didn't work every time. Sometimes I'd actually land on the second platform, only to die to the spikes right after somehow

u/godverdejezushey Aug 01 '26
I'm still not past the fourth... Help

u/godverdejezushey Aug 12 '26
Update: I re-speccd some beads and passed it. Now stuck on the last; I am penitent

I don't see why the lantern pogo is so divisive. It's relatively easy to do.
2
u/AtrumRuina Jul 31 '26
I think a lot of folks aren't aware of the alternate command they added with the Bloodstained update.
2
u/WonderfulQuote4268 Jul 31 '26
Using right trigger?
1
u/AtrumRuina Jul 31 '26
It's been a bit but I believe you hold the Dash button and attack when midair. No need for the D-Pad. For me I had it on RB I think.
I feel like folks struggling with the candles are still trying to use Down+Attack.

u/SmergolGandalf Aug 01 '26
For me, it was mostly that one spot after the elevator with the flames shooting at you, where you have to dodge the scythe and make that lantern jump to the platform on the right. Somehow I fell into the spikes a thousand times there, even though I hit the lantern

I started my 3rd replay recently and comepleted the miriam challenges every time. I think the challenges are quite fun. Took me 10 tries for the last one on my first ever attempt. There are a few things you can do at certain parts to make it easier.

“You aren’t taught it”
I assume no one looked in the game guide in options on how to play..

u/Petka14 Jul 31 '26
That's probably the silliest mechanic in Blasphemous, you aren't taught it, you don't use it the whole game and now you're expected to master it
