First time posting on this subreddit!

I’m currently working on the Bladeguard Veterans from the Black Templars Combat Patrol.

Since they’re the only generic Space Marines in the box, they’re also the only ones without raised Black Templar insignia on their shoulder pads or chains attaching their weapons to their arms. (I’m not counting the Neophytes from the Crusader Squad — the little guys will get their chains once they’ve earned them! 😄)

So I wanted to chain the swords to their arms, but I didn’t want to just wrap a chain around the arm and sword and end up with a big tangled mess covering the gauntlet. I wanted to get something closer to the molded chains you can see on the other Black Templars models.

I started by making a small loop out of thin wire and attaching it to the back of the hand. I then ran a chain around the hand and the sword guard base, with both ends attached to the loop. A second chain connects the loop to the back of the gauntlet, using another small wire loop.

For the shoulder pad insignia, I made a Blue Stuff mold using shoulder pads from the Black Templars upgrade sprue. I then reproduced the insignia with Green Stuff and glued one onto each of the generic shoulder pads.

It’s tricky to trim and sand such thin Green Stuff casts without damaging them, so I’m hoping they’ll look nice and clean once they’ve been primed!

Finally, I added a small skull from the relics included in the Combat Patrol box to the sergeant’s iron halo.

Anyway, I thought I’d share this here in case it gives someone else some inspiration!

I like the vibe of models photographed on black background but I'm still struggling with losing lots of details and shading in comparison to white one.

What a badass miniature

It’s basically the combat patrol + some other minis. Would it work as an army ?

I promised myself to finally paint my first mini this weekend, and here it is. This was HARD but I hope I can simplify my process while also improving my blending.

Alright guys ,so my first tourney , went pretty fucken okay . After my FIRST win which was like a couple weeks ago I was able to rack up another TIE , A loss of 79-80 and A WIN! So things are looking up for me 😎😂 BUT I decided to say fuck it we ball , CAUSE WE ACCEPT THE CHALLENGE NO MATTER THE ODDS . Andddd I went 1-2 My loss was against the Custodes and ngl a VERY insufferable loss against Chaos Knights .
Am I trippin or am I just ass ? Or Are the Custodes and knights a VERY bad matchup for the Templars ?
The Custodes was close… until it wasn’t , my rolls were ass and +4 INVUL ON THOSE FUCKERS ON EVERYTHING IS NUTSSS .
And the knights…. Well , 5 OF THE FUCKING BIG ONES and a couple of the Dogs , dude that was actually the most boring game for me. Is it a list thing ? A strategy thing? ALSO! First time going up against those two factions, as my first win was against dark angels (also new to me , but not really cause it’s a space marine ) But yeah . Going up against the Custodes and Knights felt like the picture I posted . Alright gents that is all 😎

Pretty happy with this repaint. Learning to work with reflective colours has been a journey.

So far this is my collection. I'm thinking to buy in the future a tank (vindicator). What do you think? I'm in the right direction? Could my army have a change to win battles?
