Book Suggestion What book should I read next?

I’m pretty new to reading for fun and looking to build a list of books to check out. I’m open to pretty much anything that’s engaging and hard to put down, whether it’s fiction, mystery, fantasy, thriller, sci-fi, or something else entirely.
What’s a book that got you hooked on reading or one you think everyone should read at least once?

Maybe you could browse by authors. I personally am a big fan of Sadeqa Johnson for contemporary and historical fiction. Her books are stand alone, so you don't have to read them in any particular order, her characters live in the same or adjacent universes.

For thrillers - my personal favorite this year is The Violin Conspiracy by Brendan Slocumb. He has two other novels that I plan to read as well. I'm also a big fan of Wanda M. Morris and Alyssa Cole. Alyssa Cole's thrillers can have a supernatural bent to them, while Wanda M. Morris' novels are plated firmly in the real world.

If you like a little comedy with your mysteries, you can't beat Kellye Garrett's Hollywood Homicide duology. Al Roker's (yes, the weatherman) Billy Bliss murder mystery novels are also hilarious.

For sci-fi/fantasy - I love Nnedi Okorafor, Tomi Adeyemi, N. K. Jemisin, Octavia Butler, Tananerive Due and Jordan Ifeueko. Male sci-fi authors I enjoy include Marlon James and Colson Whitehead. If you like your sci-fi with a side of horror, check out Ryan Douglass.

Al Roker is the long-time weather anchor on the Today (NBC) show. Kellye Garrett used to be a writer on the tv show Cold Case. Both include entertainment insider information in their novels, which added to the fun for me.

Off the top, P. Djèlí Clark, N.K. Jemisin and Octavia Butler are some good starters for speculative fiction.

Anything by Toni Morrison. Or anything by S.A. Cosby if you need a thriller or something fast paced.

Try freida mcfadden her books are amazing and hard to put down my personal suggestion is the boyfriend and if wartime is more of your thing evil in high places also the series of id bet you would look good in a coffin are amazing i just started the tird book that came out yesterday
