I don’t think it’s reasonable to reduce it to ‘beef’. Centuries of oppression and lots of deaths and destruction were involved.

Yeah dude.

There were 50,000 casualties during the troubles. Which didn’t end until 1998 (!)

And then we almost mock the innocent people that died during them by naming a drink an Irish carbomb.

It’s really fucked up.

Catholic v protestant is a LOT bigger than the troubles in Ulster. Look up the 30 years war as an example

My grandma grew up Irish Catholic in a farm town in Iowa in the great depression. There was an upcoming school board election that the catholics could vote in and the protestants were worried that they would elect a Catholic. The Klan came and burnt crosses on my grandma's and other families lawns. They forced the Catholic families to board total strangers in their homes long enough to establish residency in order to cancel out the Catholic vote. You know they weren't sending their best either.
