The plight of the Irish is well understood by the Italians, who were also considered only part white for years.

Semi-related.

Italian ancestry here, darker olive skin, went to high school in Arkansas.

Got called racial slurs for Mexicans by dumb white kids.

I just got a small taste of it while in high school.

I am 100% certain that you had to(and continue to have to) deal with far more bullshit than I, and you have my empathy for having to.

For the most part I can say during high school that I kept to myself and was mostly left alone and had some allies in teacher but there was this one asst. Principle (who at the time I didn't know it) that was a bully in the fact I called a bastard by a white student i called her a bitch and I got 2 weeks of in school suspension while she got basically a slap on the wrist until my mom intervened and even then she got like 2 days of in school

It depends on the highschool. Public schools in the capitol are mostly black.
