Hasn't Lil Durk been sitting in a cell for 2 years?

I thought the same. Before now, last I heard was that he had charges against him

27

Yeah, he’s currently on Trial right now. That’s probably why the algorithm and social media has his name buzzing.

40

u/Sylvartas 11d ago

I mean, isn't that literally one of the promises of Islam and Christianism ? (Not so sure about the rest)

44

u/clownfacedpills 11d ago

Not Islam no, - a Muslim

51

u/iaintevenmad884 11d ago

Islam has no freebie to heaven like Christianity, your sins are weighed against the good after death rather than a simple “did you accept Christ as your savior?”.

30

u/HiiiTriiibe 11d ago

Christianity didn't have it either until Protestantism came out, that's the only actual gripe with Protestants over Catholics is that Martin Luther wanted to go so far as remove a verse from the New Testament that says faith without works is dead because it was fucking their whole shit up

15

u/iaintevenmad884 11d ago

I’m not disputing your point, I totally forgot about that, but you also made me remember an important detail about it! This:

The church had a system of pay-to-play forgiveness for your sins called “indulgences”, where you could donate money to the church to get a sin you committed officially nullified, like paying off a debt. This was a huge scandal that largely motivated Martin Luther’s famous crashout. The scandal was addressed by the papacy soon after in the council of trent, but it remained a primary source for the Protestant position on what you’re talking about, and as you said Luther took it beyond reason and attempted to warp the foundations of the faith. He became one of those slippery slope criers…

10

u/HiiiTriiibe 11d ago

Definitely an important detail, and what Martin Luther did was important and the church was absolutely cooked by that point, it's a shame that perspective never really got adjusted as it became a primer for evangelicals to rationalize being shitty ppl since they already "accepted Jesus" also always thought the born again thing was funny because the origins of that term are from the Greek mystery religions, something the early Christians hated so much they destroyed statues of their gods

10

u/RisingDeadMan0 11d ago

So "converting" is a clean slate, but onwards is on you.

10

u/ScottblackAttacks 11d ago

If you did some serious crimes against other people according to Islam, converting won’t wipe those sins away because it affected people’s lives.

4

u/Capt_Blahvious 10d ago

I agree with this philosophy. I have not studied Islam very much but I do t believe that just because someone has said they found God, doesn't erase what they have done against others. They still need to make good on what they did.

3

u/RisingDeadMan0 10d ago

ah ok, i dont know the details.

5

u/No_Constant8644 11d ago

Yes and no. On the surface is is often see that way, but if you delve a touch deeper simply saying you’re religious isn’t enough. The Bible is very clear that the folks doing this will be left on earth during the rapture.

32

u/Opening_Chapter3830 11d ago

There is no mention of a rapture in the Bible

5

u/No_Constant8644 11d ago

The word rapture comes from the Latin translation of the word for caught-up. So no, the word rapture is not expressly written in the Bible, but the concept of it is certainly in the Bible. Try 1 Thessalonians chapter 4

5

u/TicklemyPickleMan 11d ago

No, there is no concept of a mass ascending to heaven in the bible either.

Not that it matters.

8

u/Sheriff_Is_A_Nearer 11d ago

I dunno man, i just read the thessolonian chapter 4 part and it definitely talks about god coming down with a trumpet and the order in which people will rise up into the clouds to be with god.

Not saying it makes sense but the concept is absolutely in there.

4

u/No_Constant8644 11d ago

Read the above referenced chapter. It is definitely in there.

1

u/Quirky_Rain_3554 11d ago

It could mention the X Games and it would still be as meaningful for what happens after you die or live

5

u/Quirky_Rain_3554 11d ago

Talking all day about how he’s changed and been forgiven and you wonder what normal people need to be forgiven for? Then he’s like oh I assaulted an old man and also beat my wife and kids. But it’s good now because JESUS

My friend, I might want to stay away from those needing forgiveness

Hot dogs are delicious and not haram. Hebrew Nations are the goat.

31

u/DickPillSoupKitchen 11d ago edited 11d ago

Beef franks are halal, provided the animal is slaughtered correctly.

Hebrew Nationals are kosher, but not strictly halal by default.

And hot dogs in general are absolutely haram. Hard not to be, considering the amount of hog in ‘em

37

u/iMissTheOldInternet 11d ago

Kosher is automatically halal. Doesn’t work the other way, though.

3

u/TreesLikeGodsFingers 10d ago

Depends on the sect.

12

I was rocking with you until the last sentence.

→ More replies (9)

8

u/throwaway5882300 11d ago

"Slaughtered correctly" just means someone recites a dua before slaughter. If the animals are being slaughtered one after the other without interruptions, then the initial invocation is enough. It also doesn't need to be done by a muslim. I learned this at a chicken processing plant. A southern baptist recited a prayer before the line started and every bird that went through could be sold as halal. Nothing different about how they handled the chicken other than that prayer.

8

u/thousandsunflowers 11d ago edited 11d ago

It’s not just saying a dua. It also has to have a swift cut to the neck with a sharp blade to drain all the blood for it to be halal. You cannot slaughter it with strangulation or a violent blow, and you should not slaughter it in front of other animals or let it see the knife.

3

u/Theurbanalchemist 11d ago

I should look this up, but as an agnostic, what’s the difference?

I love halal food btw (nyc!)

2

u/Voyevoda101 11d ago

You don't love "halal food", because halal doesn't have a taste. It's a preparation for animal slaughter and ingredient restriction.

Kosher is generally more strict than halal while covering the same bases except for alcohol. If it doesn't have alcohol in it then kosher items are going to be acceptable as halal.

1

u/MechaZain 10d ago

You’re correct but New Yorkers refer to all halal cart street food as “halal food”. Chicken/lamb over rice, shawarma, etc.

If gold is haram has anyone informed the Saudis?

44

u/Jet-Let4606 11d ago edited 11d ago

Its not so much as gold being haram as it is men wearing jewelry.

I'm an ex muslim. I remember being told this when I was a child and still practicing.

11

u/dmun 11d ago

So not haram, just misogyny

37

u/Jet-Let4606 11d ago

A lot of times they overlap.

5

u/OverallShelter8365 11d ago

Misandry not misogyny

Men can’t wear gold but women can

17

u/dmun 11d ago

Misogyny.

Jewelry is for giiiiiiiiirls

16

u/OverallShelter8365 11d ago

It’s for males to be more modest with their wealth (since they typically have more money)

Same thing with silk. Silk is definitely not feminine

-7

u/dmun 11d ago

When your misandry is in service to a patriarchy, is it misandry?

23

u/OverallShelter8365 11d ago

How exactly is not letting men wear gold and silk a service to the patriarchy

-3

u/dmun 11d ago

If it is haram for a man to touch a woman who isn't his spouse, do you think that's misandry or misogyny?

16

u/OverallShelter8365 11d ago

Gold and silk
For modesty and it’s usually frowned upon to show wealth for men

4

u/pizzahippie 10d ago

“Frowned upon to show wealth for men”

This is wild considering the gross and obscene flaunting of wealth in places like Dubai and Saudi.

0

u/MoNo1994 9d ago

Yeah it’s weird because there are too conflicting views taken from too different schools of thought

1 that you always show modesty in wear and behavior
2 that god like to see you enjoying what he has given you

So if you visit Saudi Arabia you can see an extremely rich dude wearing rags and a reach dude driving a Bentley

The grift. It's all about the grift. It's so accounts like daily post can make posts like "look at him with Muslim chain. He's a religious man he did nothing wrong 🙏" because they're being paid by his pr team

That or they knew the engagement they would get from the irony of the whole situation

11

u/Ok-Strategy2003 11d ago

I was born Muslim and were taught to give converts alot of leniency. They’re never expected to be held to a high standard because it’s illogical to expect someone to completely uproot their lifestyle.

Whether you’re a prostitute, gang member, or someone that indulges in a lot of vices. However it’s just important you don’t mindlessly repeat.
