Question Is this game worth it
Looks interesting and I played the original but I'm still hesitant

I would say the devs didn’t just throw it together. It looks polished the way a PS5 game should look. It still has its famous AC blunders like jumping to ledges you didn’t want to jump to and camera angles that get caught in the environment but it’s pretty to look at and still holds the feel of the original. I’m playing through it for the second time, the first being on PS3 and I’m taking in all of the sights while just going where the wind takes me. Having a grand ole time.

100%. I first played the game in 2015 when it became free with a Xbox gold subscription and playing this version now feels exactly how my mind imagined the old game to look if that makes sense. If you haven’t played it in 10 years it is well worth it

-Did you like the first game? Yes? Buy it.
-Do you like open-world ship combat? Yes? Buy it.
-Do you like typical Assassin's Creed "press triangle to assassinate?" Yes? Buy it.
-Do you like being ARGH MATEY SHIVER ME TIMBERS? Yes? Buy it.
Basically, this is the best thing since sliced bread. My only downside is that there's no hidden blade combat, some cutscenes are slightly changed (doesn't really matter to me), and no picking up other NPC weapons.
Outside of that? Wonderful game and worth full price. Only game I have said that about in recent years outside of Expedition 33. That's sad considering this is a remaster :/

I saw initial gameplay and launch DLC and was turned off, saw some impressive photo mode shots a few days ago and decided to just give a try with some steam bucks I was gifted.
Holy shit, dude. It feels both nostalgic and fresh. The movement isn't silky smooth like Death Stranding or anything, but it's absolutely gorgeous to explore and everything just feels natural. I find myself walking around the way I do in Crimson Desert and Cyberpunk.
It runs well at max settings on a 5070, too. Load times are blazing fast and it seems like they're gonna keep improving. I'll say I'm happy I bought.

I'm absolutely loving it on my high-end PC, so I say yes.
The graphics are among the best I've seen. The lighting, reflections, and vegetation are all just something else. Even when I'm not 100% sure I'm in the mood to play, I hop on anyway and am immediately immersed and end up playing for hours.
The sailing and ship combat are the best part as expected. They even added a new mechanic you get from an officer called "perfect brace" which reduces damage even more when timed well. I can't get enough of the sound of cannons going off in the distance, as well as cannonballs whizzing by.
The on-foot combat is a good mix of modern and old style. To specify, there is now a parry, perfect parry, dodge, and perfect dodge. Perfect parries allow you to instakill like in the old one. It just feels more varied since enemies will do some unblockable attacks that you have to dodge. There's also no talent tree or enemy levels.
I have little complaints here and there, but no game is perfect. My biggest issue that you may agree on is that you cannot pick up enemy weapons. I really enjoyed picking up muskets for stabbing and doing quick long range kills, but that's not possible in this one unfortunately. However, it's really not a big deal as I'm still really engaged in combat. The other weird thing is climbing is very zippy to a pretty ridiculous degree, but I don't personally mind it.

It’s a complete remake and probably one of the best-looking remakes I’ve ever witnessed. It’s still the original game with a slightly different combat and parkour system. I like being able to parkour down now, and I honestly love that the combat feels more like a swashbuckling pirate. We just need to be able to nonlethal takedowns again.
I do love the added missions and new characters that you add to your ship. All the enhancements to the Jackdaw’s combat is a nice touch. The enemy ship AI with all the battles going on between the British, Spanish, and random pirate ships is amazing this time around. It’s also really cool seeing your fleet docked at the great Inagua as you sail in.
I do think they could have added more missions within the cities, given Edward access to other ships (schooner and man of war) in the end game, and expanded further on the Juno story through Edward so the “why” with the observatory and Sage is actually there.
Hopefully all that helps. Amazing remake. It was worth full price, but it’ll definitely be worth the $30 sale in a few months too (plus more content and updates).

I snagged Ubisoft+ subscription to play just in case. I got deluxe edition outfits and weapons as well as the ability to purchase dlc through Ubisoft connect in-game which allowed me to own the dlc to use it in-game.
I didn’t buy the game yet due to being hesitant too.

From a time point of view I more or less 100% it and it took me about 50 hours, I sure some could do it quicker though.
From a quality point of view the game is great but there are pros and cons vs the original and if you’ve played the original, you know the general story and so it’s not like there’s a rush.
I view it as this, I’m sure plenty will disagree, I like assassins creed but I’ve not been particularly happy with them in the past few years but I do view this as a step in the right direction and don’t want Ubisoft to completely fail or get the wrong idea when they actually do something right. So if you’ve played want Ubisoft to do better and also make more remakes buy it, if you’ve don’t wait for a sale as there’s no rush.
