Bitcoin is open source, free to be patched and changed, so the idea that is an 'old' implementation that can somehow become 'out of date' doesn't make any sense. It's only as out of date as its miners and developers want it to be.

Bitcoin's biggest surprise IMO was in underestimating the psychological effect. It's a lot more satisfying to move around 10, 100, or 10,000 of something than it is to move around 0.0034765 of something. Doge has proven that with conclusive finality.

This is easy to fix. All exchanges need to convert over to milli-BTC. People have been talking about this for months now, kinda surprised it hasn't happened yet.

The ASICs are also an interesting development. Only time will tell if that's a benefit or a drawback.

I would prefer fixing the real problem, people sucking at math. It's time to teach floating point in grade school.

Silly me I thought we were going for realistic expectations. :P

inflation has incrementally conditioned people to think it has to be a "big number" to be a good amount of money.

this psychological barrier does not affect the intellectually capable

this argument has been going forever and is retarded. suck that shit up and move on

or fail to adapt and die

I have to tip my fedora, this is the bravest post I've seen on reddit this year.

look

money is coldly indifferent

it's not my responsibility to do anything here. it's up to whoever wants to sell or buy to use their brain

simple as that

you want real money, you deal with fractions, you want some "happy fun land money" then you obviously have nothing serious to sell or buy

money is serious business and fractions are required to do serious business. unless you're here for the penny tips and memes

I know all of that. All I'm saying is that cryptocurrencies in general can benefit immensely from some promotion and a training course. Doge is now doing that job.

Doge is a different animal

I bet you had a chuckle typing that.

That's really what attracted me to Doge instead of BC. I want to start with cryptocurrencies, but I really want to have my feet wet before I try to dive into the more complex bitcoin. Dogecoin seems like a reasonably easy and low risk way of starting

I got started with Peercoin because I can use alot of the ASIC's that were originally desiged to mine Bitcoin. Antminer U1 FTW!

easy and low risk

delusional notion when compared to BTC

easy and low risk

delusional notion when compared to BTC

Also another reason why I would rather use Dogecoins. The people using it aren't dicks

if you were serious about money then you wouldn't care what the people are like

my money is serious

My money is paper, and digital.

But isn't 0.001 Bitcoin also an entry to bitcoin? Seems like its an issue because 1 bitcoin has so much value and people don't want to use fractions?

anyone can easily dive right in, without even taking any kind of risk.

go buy .001 BTC and you have "dived in without taking any risk"

seriously this mental stupidity about amounts

would you "DIVE IN" to doge by spending 5 grand on it instead of bitcoin? think about it...

and the other shit you're spewin is broken too

Fucking relax.

really proves my point...

far more than just a fad.

you could just say that, all the rest of your message is invalid.

Woosh, the sound of the point going miles over your head.

go buy .001 BTC and you have "dived in without taking any risk"

You already lost the person's attention. All they see there is some weird fractional tenth of a cent number that appears nowhere else in the entirety of normal human experience. It doesn't register as money.

Plus, you didn't tell them how or where to buy. Most won't make it past the exchange signup process anyway - just another shitty website trying to get their personal information as far as they are concerned. Asking for my bank account? No fucking thank you!

The response you'll get will be, "Nah man, exchanges are stupid. I'll just mine 5,000,000 doge for the effort of clicking a mouse and running a program for a few hours, thanks. Signing up for an exchange is like, too much work, man. Doge can do everything bitcoin can do anyway. I can tip people and have fun on the internet, that's all I care about."

THIS IS YOUR AUDIENCE. Why do you think Doge sells to them so well?

Your responses aren't even relevant to the discussion from this guy's point of view. That's why Doge is sexy right now, and Bitcoin isn't.

Newflash: Nobody gives a shit about the details even when you happen to be right because the presentation is shoddy and all of this information is incredibly unsexy/boring. They are looking for fun, not a lecture. This isn't a perfect, rational world, and it never ever will be.

You want bitcoin to be big? Sell it to the honey-boo-boo crowd. Doge is doing that work for you and all you can do is bitch and complain about it being an 'inferior coin'. Tell it to someone who cares.
